Sync Calendar with a phone or tablet

Learn how to get Google Calendar on your phone or tablet.

When you sync your calendar on your mobile device, all your events are automatically backed up so you can always see your events on a computer at www.google.com/calendar.

Android phone or tablet

Download the official app for Android 4.1+

The official Google Calendar app is the recommended way to get Calendar on your Android phone or tablet.

  1. Download the Google Calendar app on Google Play.
    Can't find or install the app? Your version of Android might not work with the app. See the section below for older versions.
  2. When you open the app, you're already signed in with your Google Account. You can also add another account.

How to tell which version of Android you have

Directions for your device may be a bit different, but here's the general idea:

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone or tablet.
  2. Open the About phone/device/tablet section. It might be at the bottom of the page, or on a different page in Settings.
  3. The Android version section tells you which version you have.

If the number is 4.1 or up, use the directions above to download the app. If the number is below 4.1, see the section below.

Sync options for older versions of Android

If your version of Android is below 4.1, you can still sync Google Calendar with your phone or tablet.

iPhone or iPad

Download the official Google Calendar app for iPhone

The Google Calendar app is the recommended way to get Calendar on your iPhone.

  1. Download the Google Calendar app on the App Store.
  2. Sign in with your Google Account. You can add multiple accounts to the app.

Sync with the Apple Calendar app for iPhone & iPad

Set up sync with the Apple Calendar app

You can sync Google Calendar with the Calendar app that comes on your iPhone or iPad.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Touch Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add account > Google.
  3. Enter your name, your full Gmail or Google Apps address, and password.
    If you use 2-Step Verification, use an app password instead of your regular password.
  4. Touch Next.
  5. Emails, contacts, and calendar events will now sync directly with your Google Account on the web. To sync only your calendar, turn the other services off.

Now when you open the Calendar app on your iPhone or iPad, you'll see your Google Calendar events.

Sync specific calendars

If you have more than one calendar set up in Google Calendar on the web, you can choose which calendars to sync:

  1. Go to www.google.com/calendar/syncselect.
  2. Check the boxes for the calendars you want to sync.
  3. In the bottom right corner, touch Save.
Other smartphones or tablets

On most devices, you can view Calendar in a mobile web browser, or download a calendar app that syncs with Google Calendar. You may also be able to add your Google Account on your device's Settings page so you can sync with the calendar app that comes on your device.

Using Google Calendar with a work or school account? You may also be able to use Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook.

Troubleshoot sync problems

  • Android 4.1+ app
    Follow the steps in the sync troubleshooter.
  • Android 4.0 or 2.3 apps
    Directions for your app or device will be a bit different, but you can follow the general steps outlined in the sync troubleshooter.
  • Google Calendar app for iPhone
    Follow the steps in the sync troubleshooter.
  • Apple Calendar app for iPhone and iPad
    Make sure you have a working data connection. Use the directions above to check your settings. Try removing your Google account and adding it back.
