You can keep track of upcoming birthdays using Google Calendar. You can create, hide, or change the color of birthdays on your calendar.
- The birthday information syncs with your calendar when you add a person and include their birthday in Google Contacts.
- You can edit or remove birthday information about the person in the Contacts
app for Android or Google Contacts.
- If you want notifications about a specific birthday, you can create a birthday event on your calendar.
- You can hide all birthdays on your calendar. This hides both manually created birthdays and those imported from Google Contacts.
- If you use Calendar on an Android device, iPhone, or iPad: You can edit birthdays that are linked to Google Contacts.
- If you edit a birthday in Calendar, the same edits are applied in Google Contacts.
- When you delete a birthday from Calendar, it doesn’t affect the information stored in Google Contacts.
- If you turn off “Sync from Contacts” in calendar settings it deletes all synced events in Calendar which includes:
- Birthdays
- Important dates
- Any changes made to these events
Hide all birthdays on your calendar
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
.
- To the left of “Birthdays,” tap the box.
Tip: Calendars with an empty box are already hidden from your calendar.
Turn off birthdays from one of your accounts
If you have multiple accounts, you can hide birthdays imported from Contacts associated with one of your accounts.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
Settings.
- Tap Birthdays.
- To hide an account, turn off Sync from Contacts.
Tip: By default, sync is on for the Google Accounts on your calendar. If you uncheck any of the Google Accounts, birthdays imported from Contacts are removed from your Calendar but remain in Contacts.
Change the color of birthdays on your calendar
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Calendar app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
Settings.
- Tap Birthdays.
- Select a new color.
Important:
- The birthdays in Apple Contacts now show as Calendar events on your iPhone or iPad along with your Google Contacts. However they don’t sync to Android devices or the Web.
- Default notification settings apply to these birthdays.
- In the “Settings” page, under the “From Device” account label, you can change notification settings.
