Knowledge panel not being displayed for my company name?

Hi guys,

When I search for my companies name ("ias medical"), I am only getting the local pack listing, which is displayed below the first search result, and no knowledge panel (see screenshot 1).

However, when I search for "iasmedical", the GMB listing (the same one displayed in the local pack in the prev example) is displayed as a knowledge panel (see screenshot 2)

Is there a way for this to be amended, so that when someone searches for "ias medical", the knowledge panel is displayed?

Any further questions please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

you get  the  same  if googling  for  ias medical London

Its  btw  great coincidence that you get  for  iasmedical  the KP of the   London  location  as this result came  due to the website of the london listing being  www.iasmedical.com and the  two darlington  listings have the same  website

Maybe  you are looking  for  a  brand KP for your company like this here for  British  Airways ?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

So the issue I am having is that a lot of users are searching for "ias medical" and the KP doesn't display, and I am trying to work out why this could be?

Once I have figured this out, I will then be doing work to optimise this so it is something similar to the British Airways KP.

Knowledge panels  like  the one  for  "British Airways" or "Hugo  Boss"  have nothings to do with GMaps or GoogleMyBusiness as  it are brand related  Knowledge panels
They  are mainly based on  sources like  Wikipedia  or  other  third party websites.

Believe you should  read  this two  links:

It  would  be  perhaps also helpful  to ask  the Community forum - Google Search Help about this  type of  Knowledge panel  and how  to trigger  it.

Hi,

Thanks again for your reply!

Ah okay, thanks for this. In terms of the GMB KP, is there a reason why the KP is displaying for some business name search terms, and not for others?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jack, it takes time and work for a listing to start showing on the KP.
There are several factors that influence on this. Competitors is one, the amount of reviews, etc.
Google doesn't assure that you are going to be shown in the KP, but in my experience with work on the listings (and external things as well like the web), when you start getting more reviews, time and patience it might start to appear.

My company name is "Midco Sales" (midcosales.com).  When I  Google "midco sales" my knowledge panel used to display but lately it doesn't.  The knowledge panel will display if I add ANY other word after "midco sales"; but it just won't display if I just search for our company name.

Can anybody tell me why?

@Michael Wirth

almost ever  is it  necessary  to add  a  geo  term  to the  GMB name  in order  to get the KP.
This is as  GMB works  -  and is  intended.

I would understand if it truly was a geo term required to display the knowledge panel, but it seems that I can add pretty much any unrelated word (not necessarily a geo term) after my company name to get the knowledge panel to display.  Examples:  Googling "midco sales banana", "midco sales airplane", "midco sales breadpan" all display the knowledge panel, even though those terms have nothing to do with my company.  However, Google "midco sales" doesn't display the knowledge panel

Google will not show a KP when a business has multiple locations in the area. They will then defunct to showing a map pack results as that better serves their users, the searcher.

Thanks  Keyserholiday  for chiming in

@Michael  Wirth

I  dont  get you  -  neither  for  Midco Sales  banana
nor  for    Midco Sales  breadpan  or    Midco Sales   airplain

But I get you  for  Midco Sales  AZ

The reply from Keyserholiday answered my question.  I had 2 local locations with the same name and same website/landing page.  I modified my 2nd location name and created a unique landing page and now my Knowledge Panel displays as I want it to.  Thanks, Keyserholiday!
