Fake Reviews - Competitors Keep Leaving Fake Reviews

We have recently encountered competitors actively leaving fake reviews (and updating them to keep them recent, each time we receive a 5-star review) and can't seem to solve this problem.

It is clearly evident due to the following:
  • New competitors have just ranked on Google
  • 3 consecutive 1-star reviews going to the extreme to scare our customers (eg. scam site, they are a threatening group etc.)
  • We receive 98% 5 star reviews - each review comes complete with a real name and a picture
  • The 3 false reviews have pseudonyms (nicknames, not real names), no pictures and one leaving a 5-star review of a brand new competitor within 20 minutes of leaving the bad review for us - obviously the only 2 reviews they have left.
  • Finally - The worse part is, they are updating their reviews after we receive a 5-star review to keep their review at the top of our Recent Reviews list.

I hope someone can help assist us with this as I can only foresee this getting worse, creating a fake review culture in my local industry and market and eventually severely affecting local businesses.
