Google Maps Pin Tampering Affecting Verified Business Locations
We've encountered a significant issue where an unknown party is manipulating Google Maps pins, targeting our business, Lift Kings Garage Doors, and others in our vicinity. Despite having a verified profile on Google Maps, we were not notified nor asked to authorize any changes to our map pin location. This unauthorized action has led to our business pin being inaccurately placed in the middle of a lake, which is absurd and misleading.
We attempted to correct our location by moving the pin back to its rightful place, which prompted us to re-verify our business. We completed this step, yet three days have passed, and the change is still marked as "pending edits." This situation is highly alarming as it not only affects our business's visibility but also misleads our customers.
It's perplexing and concerning that such a significant change could be made without the explicit consent of the business owner. This oversight raises questions about the robustness of Google's verification and approval processes for location changes.
We have reached out to Google Support, submitting a detailed ticket regarding this issue. Unfortunately, the response received was generic, indicating a lack of understanding of our predicament. We are hopeful that by raising awareness through this post, we might expedite a resolution and draw Google's attention to the flaws in their current system that allow such disruptive activities to take place.
