Introducing new updates to Business Profile Announcement
0
As you might have seen in the announcement, starting this week, you can easily claim and verify your Business Profile directly from Google products you already use. We also announced that we are simplifying our naming and moving from ‘Google My Business’ to ‘Google Business Profile’. We wanted to share more granular details with our Community here.

Claiming your Business Profile directly on Search and Maps

It is now easier to complete verification or resolve other issues with your Business Profile. Just search for the name of your business on Google or go to your profile directly in the Google Maps app and you’ll see an option to verify the profile or resolve other issues, like profile suspension. You can also search for ‘my business’ on Google Search to get to your Business Profile.

From there, you can edit the information that people see when they search for your business, including address, store hours, photos, and more.

Over the coming months we will enable all merchants who create or claim Business Profiles on Google to complete their setup directly on Google Search and Maps. You will also be able to clearly see whether your profile is publicly visible and what to do to get it seen by your customers.

Managing your Business Profile exclusively through Search and Maps

The easiest way to manage your profile is now via Google Maps and Search. Moving forward, additional tools to help you understand how your business is performing and how you can enhance your online presence will be available exclusively on Search and Maps.

You’ll no longer need to use the separate Google My Business website or mobile app. So to keep things simple, “Google My Business” is now just “Google Business Profile”. Our Help Center, Community and Support channels will be updated accordingly over the coming weeks. Over time you will also be linked to your Business Profile directly from the email and push notifications you are getting from us.

The Google My Business website will transition to support primarily larger businesses with multiple profiles and will be renamed “Business Profile Manager”. Larger businesses will still be able to manage individual profiles on Search and Maps if they choose to do so. Over time we expect smaller businesses to shift to managing individual profiles directly on Search and Maps.

Google My Business API will be renamed Business Profile API and will fully retain current functionality and remain under active development.

In 2022, we’ll retire the Google My Business app so small businesses can take advantage of the upgraded merchant experience on Google Maps and Search.

Look out for more details in the coming months on all these changes.
