How can I get an offensive Google review removed? 1 Recommended Answer 27 Replies 6 Upvotes

I was a guest at the Inn at the Shore in Seaside, Oregon.  Another guest posted very offensive things about me in her Google review.

I flagged the review and called Google.  The hotel staff flagged the review and called Google.  This has been up 2 weeks so far.  Please remove it.

Below is a screenshot of the review as it appears on the Inn at the Shore in Seaside, Oregon website.

I have flagged this review multiple times over the past 2 weeks.  I also flagged it from Google maps, along with a screenshot of the review, as I was instructed to do by Google when I called them.

The review is very offensive, and is an obvious violation.  I don't understand why it's not being removed.

I spoke to someone at Google My Business this morning.  She read the offensive review and said she would escalate the issue, and something should be determined in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Google needs to take these things more seriously.  This has caused me a significant amount of distress, and it should have been dealt with when the business management spoke with them the first time.  It doesn't take weeks to click a delete button on a review that is so obviously a violation of the posting guidelines.  This has been very poor customer service from Google.

Nothing has been done about this offensive review yet.  It's been 3 weeks now that this verbal attack has been up.  Google has been notified numerous times.  Something needs to be done very soon, or I will be forced to find another way to deal with this.

Hey Deborah,

I'll see if I can get clarification on if Google will remove this or not and let you know when I hear back.

Thank you.  This reviewer actually pointed out my review and called me out by name.  This is clearly a violation.  Being attacked this way has been very upsetting to me.  I hope something will now be done.

Hello Deborah,

Actually this post does not violate ANY terms of conditions for removal. The review does not threaten your well-being, does not include any personal information other than your name Deborah (There are about 6 billion people in the world and there are bound to be more Deborah's) There is no profanity and this is another reviewers experience of what had happened. In all honesty the fact you came all the way to Google to get it removed kind of denotes guilt which makes me believe this review is trustworthy. Maybe next time you shouldn't complain about other guests if you don't want to be put on blast.

Hello again Deborah,

It seems like you'd rather retaliate and play the victim which again just goes to show why the review against you shouldn't be taken down. You've done your damage now live in it.

I posted my review first.  My review reflects my dissatisfaction with the hotel staff for not helping with a negative situation.

T posted her review after, calling me out by name and pointing to my review.  This does distinguish me from all the other Deborah's out there.

You may think that I am trying to make myself out the victim, but in actuality that is what T is doing.  She calls me a racist, when I didn't even see her or her family until I went up to ask them to quiet down.  And they ARE WHITE. The kids and some other family I saw all had blonde hair.  But pulling the race card, falsely I may add, was her attempt to turn the guilt to me.

This IS an attack and a violation and needs to be removed.

This is not an attack. This is a situation with a they said/ you said. You decided to leave your feedback and so did they. Both reviews are now the intellectual property of Google, Inc. (please review your Service Agreement you agreed to when you created your gmail account). Google reserves the right to delete OR keep any reviews it deems worthy. Should you continue you feel that this is a "violation" you are more than welcome to hire representation and serve Google to take the review down.

Deborah,

I'm still waiting to hear from Google on if it violates their guidelines.  Based on the first response I got (which I've replied to), it looks like they don't want to remove it.  I'll keep you posted.

How is this NOT a violation?  The woman reviewed ME, not the hotel.  She verbally attacked me and made up a racial motive.  This is in direct violation of their posting policy!

Logan, I reviewed a bad experience with the hotel staff not handling a situation.  I stated there were noisy guests above me, but never once pointed to T, even after she posted her hateful review.  I did that to show how the situation would never have gotten to that point if the staff had intervened and handled the situation.  My review was of the hotel staff, no the noisy guest.

This other reviewer then retaliated against me personally and made up false accusations.  Do you have any idea what it's like to be falsely accused of something so heinous?  Of course I want this corrected!

Read down further in the reviews and you will see one by the hotel manager begging Google to please remove this hateful review from their website.  They don't want this slander on their site, either.

Google needs to enforce their own policy.  If they don't, I will edit my review and rip this woman a new one.  Because that would be okay, right?

According to you, you left a bad review first. Hence the review left by T was an explanation of what had happened. Albeit her explanation nonetheless it was describing her experience at the Inn. Secondly she did not threaten you, she did not use profanity, she did not say anything other than HER experience of what happened. I have been doing this for a long time and I do not see any violations at all. You are entitled to your review and the other party is entitled to their own. As Joyce says it doesn't seem like Google is going to take it down because they probably don't see a violation JUST LIKE I DIDN'T. You have two options, you can either hire representation and spend lots of money to get the review taken down years down the line OR just forget it! No one is going to walk up to you in the streets point and say " There's that Deborah who left the bad reviews at that Inn!" Welcome to the World Wide Web where ANY and EVERYONE can say and express themselves.

P.S. I wouldn't advise RIPPING anyone a new anything. You already left your review, then changed it 20 hours ago, then you want to change it again and attack someone who left their own experience. I will say in all honesty you seem at fault or guilty in some way. That is my personal opinion.

I left a review of THE HOTEL.  No one had any idea who the random guest I was referring to was, and not once did I call her names like she did me.  I just explained the situation.

She then claimed I saw people who weren't white and assumed they were loud, and called me a racist.   She can't take what she thinks I may have thought and present it as fact.  In truth, I didn't even see the lady or any of her family until I went up to ask them to please quiet the kids down.  Half the family were blonde haired, no one was dark skinned, or had any ethnic features, other than white.

This woman made all this up and that is what has me upset.  I don't care what else she had to say about me in her review, but making false accusations that I am a racist is unacceptable.  The name calling and false racial accusations should be removed from her review.

The reason I edited my review to consolidate it, because it was too long, and I wanted to make it flow more efficiently.  But if she has a right to explain her side in her review, I have a right to answer her accusations in mine, and this is exactly what I intend to do.  I have a right to defend myself against unfounded accusations.

I came to this forum for help with something I find very distressing.  I am frankly shocked that Google condones such hateful slander.
