You can post updates on your Business Profile to share announcements, offers, updates, and event details directly with your customers on Search and Maps. When customers find your latest business updates on your Business Profile, it helps them decide to visit your business.
Post on your Business Profile to:
- Share up-to-date info and improve your customer experience.
- Promote your sales, specials, events, news, and offers.
- Connect with your customers through posts with photos and videos.
Learn about posts for your Business Profile
Posts can show text, photos, or videos, and customers can find them in:
- The “Updates” or “Overview” tabs of the Business Profile on mobile on Search and Maps.
- The “From the owner” section of the Business Profile on your computer on Search and Maps.
- Featured posts that are added directly to your Business Profile on mobile.
Posts about events, deals, or specials may automatically show on your Business Profile on mobile. These featured posts are from your social media channels, like Facebook and Instagram, or from posts you've created on your Business Profile.
Tips:
- This feature is currently available in English for single-location food and drink businesses in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
- When featured posts are available, customers find them in place of reviews on your Business Profile on mobile. They can still access reviews when they tap your business's star rating or check the "Reviews" tab.
Understand the different types of posts
Important: Posts that include a phone number in the post description might get rejected. To add additional phone numbers to your profile, learn more about edits to your Business Profile.
You can create and customize these types of posts:
- Offers: Provide promotional sales or deals from your business. It requires a title, dates, and time. This automatically includes a "View offer" button on the post. You can also include a photo, video, description, coupon code, link, and terms and conditions.
- Updates: Share info about your business. You can add a photo, video, description, and an action button.
- Events: Promote an event at your business. Add a title, start and end dates, and a time. If you don’t provide a start or end time, the system sets the post to last 24 hours on the day you post it. You can also include a photo, video, description, and an action button.
Tip: Posts older than 6 months are archived unless a date range is set.
Create a post
- Go to your Business Profile.
- Select Add update.
- From the “Add update” tab, select the post type:
- Update
- Offer
- Event
- Select the elements you want to add to your post.
- Examples: Photos, videos, text description, or button.
- Add info for your post.
- Publish or preview your post:
- To publish your post: At the bottom right, select Post.
- To get a preview of your changes: Select Preview.
- If you need more changes:
- At the top left, select Back
.
- Edit your draft until it’s ready to publish.
- At the top left, select Back
Tip: To improve your posts, you can add details like descriptive title, start and end date, and other relevant info.
Edit or delete a post
You can edit or delete a post before or after you publish it.
- Go to your Business Profile.
- In the “Updates” section, select View All.
- Find the post you want to edit or delete.
- To edit a post, select More
Edit.
- To delete a post, select More
Delete.
- To edit a post, select More
Understand your post status
After you publish your post, Google reviews it to make sure it meets our posts content policy. Your post’s visibility to customers depends on its status:
- Live: The post is public and shows on Search and Maps.
- Pending: The post doesn't show on Search or Maps. It’s either in the upload stage, the processing stage, or your profile is unverified.
- Not approved: The post doesn't show on Search or Maps. The question mark next to the status indicates which content policy the post violates.
Improve your posts
- Keep it professional: Avoid misspelled words, extra characters, text that adds no value, and auto-generated or distracting content.
- Keep your posts respectful: Do not use inappropriate or offensive language, images, or videos.
- Only post links to websites you trust: The system doesn’t allow links that lead to malware, viruses, phishing, or pornographic material.
- Regulated goods and services: You can use posts if you offer products or services in a regulated industry, but do not include content about the products. These industries usually include adult services, alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceutical products, recreational drugs, health and medical devices, gambling services, fireworks, weapons, and financial services.
- Keep your posts family-friendly: Do not post sexually suggestive or explicit content.
- Add complete and relevant details: Include a descriptive title, event start and end times, and offer info.
