When you make changes to your business, you can request to move your reviews from an old Business Profile to a new one, or we might move reviews automatically for you. If significant business changes occur, we might remove irrelevant reviews. Not all business changes qualify to move or remove reviews.
Understand when reviews can be moved
Important: Do not create a new Business Profile because of a change in a physical location or ownership.
- For duplicate profiles: If you unintentionally created and verified a new profile due to a change in physical location or ownership change, contact us to transfer your reviews from the old profile to the new one.
- For relocated businesses: If you move to a new address and keep the same business name, Google will transfer your reviews automatically. For certain business categories, like hotels, golf courses or scenic attractions, reviews might not be automatically moved.
Understand when reviews cannot be removed
- For businesses with new management: If a business has a new owner or manager but keeps the same name, the reviews remain. To explain any changes or improvements to your business, you can reply to old reviews. Learn how to read and reply to your reviews.
- For minor name changes: If a business makes a minor name change or if a business with multiple locations changes its name, the reviews remain. If your business changes its name but doesn’t meet the criteria above, it’s considered a new business.
- For temporarily or permanently closed businesses: If your business closes for a while or permanently, the reviews remain on the profile. Customers can leave new reviews for temporarily closed businesses but not for permanently closed ones.
