About third-party reviews

Businesses on Search and Maps may display third-party reviews from varying sources. These reviews show up on a Business Profile to provide customers even more relevant information about the business.

Third-party reviews are reviews left on non-Google websites. Business category and location determine the types of reviews and how they’re displayed across platforms and devices.

Review snippets from aggregator websites

Reviews from relevant review aggregator websites may display on your Business Profile. A review snippet is a short excerpt of a review or a rating from a review website. The rating is usually an average of the combined rating scores from many reviewers. Learn more about review snippets.
When Google finds valid reviews or ratings, we may show a rich snippet that includes stars and other summary info from reviews or ratings.

Editorial top lists

Important: Editorial top lists are available for businesses in the US only.

In Google Search, Business Profiles for local businesses may display "Editorial top lists."

Editorial top lists are lists from the web, like "Top 10 Best Restaurants in San Francisco." Users can read these lists to help them decide on the most popular places to dine in a specific area.

  • The lists only show up on mobile.

Reviews for specific business types

All business types should keep in mind:

  • You can’t select which partner website a review comes from.
  • You can’t opt out of third-party partner reviews.
  • You should contact the third-party website directly for issues about an overall rating or an individual review that come from that third-party partner site.
Hotel reviews

A hotel’s Business Profile on Google Search and Maps may display reviews from relevant travel partners.

The reviews show the overall rating for the hotel and the link to the hotel’s page at the partner’s website. Partner reviews may also show up in the list of Google Reviews, but they're clearly attributed to show which partner website they come from.
