Google sometimes checks publishing accounts to make sure they follow the Program and Content rules.
If Google is checking your account, you will see a warning. Find the warning you see below to learn more:
Your account is undergoing a preliminary policy review
All new Publishers have to get checked when they publish their first book. If this check lasts more than seven days, ask Play Books for help. You don't need to do anything else.
While your account is being checked:
- Your books might say ‘Needs Action’ during this time.
- You can add things to your account, but they won't show up on Google Play or Google Books until the check is done.
When the check is done:
- Books that are approved will show up in the store within 12 hours.
- The warning will go away.
Your account is under review
Your account is being checked for policy review. If this check lasts more than 30 days, ask Play Books for help.
While your account is being checked:
- The things that were already on your account are still there.
- You can add things to your account, but they won't show up on Google Play or Google Books until the check is done.
To keep Google from checking your account again:
- Make sure no one else is publishing your books or parts of your books. If you licensed your work to someone else before, but now you have regained the rights, that person has to tell Play Books that they don't own the book rights anymore. Google can't help if you have a conflict about who owns the book rights.
- Don't write books that are available for everyone to read and use. We don't accept books that are public because they are easy to copy.
