Let content reviewers preview a book before sale

You can add content reviewers to check how your book appears on Google Play. They're able to read the book at no cost on any supported device. You can grant a book to content reviewers even before it's available for sale.

  • Content reviewers must be specified by you and have access to the entire book. This preview feature differs from a book's preview on Google Books, where a limited percentage of your book is publicly accessible.

Some features described on this page may not be available in all countries/regions.

Requirements to add a content reviewer

  • You can sell books on Google Play.
  • The content reviewer must have a Google Account. If they don’t have one, they can create one at no charge.
  • The content reviewer must be located in one of the countries where books can be purchased on Google Play.
  • Content files for the book must be provided and successfully processed.
  • The content reviewer must not already have the book in their library.

Grant a book to a content reviewer

  1. Sign in to the Partner Center.
  2. On the left, select Book Catalog.
  3. Select the title of the book.

Review a book

To check that they have access to the book, content reviewers can access their Google Play library. They can read the book on their computer or supported mobile devices.

Certain book settings can be disregarded for a content reviewer. For example:

  • If a book is disabled from sale or available only in a certain country or region, content reviewers can read it.
  • Content reviewers can't copy and paste or print from books that they're granted access to, even if the book's buyers are allowed to.
  • Content reviewers may be able to see a PDF under "Original Pages" even if you have unchecked "Show PDF.”
  • Content reviewers may be able to see automatically extracted text under "Flowing Text" even if you have unchecked "Create flowing text.”

Remove content reviewer's access to a book

  1. Sign in to the Partner Center.
  2. On the left, select Book Catalog.
  3. Select the title of the book.
  4. Select the Content tab.
  5. Under "Content Reviewers," select Remove Trash next to the email address of the reviewer you wish to remove.

The book still appears in the reviewers’ accounts, but it becomes an ebook sample instead of the entire book.
