How the Google Books Preview Programme works

When you make your books available on Google Books, it helps potential readers discover them. Users who like what they read in the preview may purchase the entire book. To purchase the book easily, we displayed the links of major book retailers.

If your book is available for sale on Google Play, users can buy the eBook. Learn how to sell your books through Google.

To get words to be a possible match for Google Books searches, we scan the full text of your book. If a user searches a word that appears on a page of your book, your book can be listed in the search results, even if the title doesn't contain the word. When you make your book fully searchable, it won’t be fully visible. You can control the percentage of your book's pages that users can browse.

To let users around the world discover your books, we combined the Google Books index with the index of Google Web Search.

Your content is protected

We host all book content on our secure servers. To protect your material, Google stops the print, cut, copy and save on all preview pages that display book content.

To protect your content, Google limits the number of pages that users can find. You can choose to make 20% to 100% of your book's content browseable.

If you sell books on Google Play, you can apply industry-standard Digital Rights Management (DRM) to your eBooks.

You retain your copyright. Google doesn’t receive any copyright to your material.

How to submit your book

You need digital versions of your books available in either PDF or EPUB format. After you create a partner account, you can access the Book Partner Centre, an online interface used to upload and manage your book settings.
