Small charge after adding a free book to my library

Our team has received reports that some users have seen small charges (equivalent to $1 USD) on their accounts after adding free books to their libraries. Temporary authorization charges are normal for validating new or updated bank accounts added to Google Wallet, even when adding free items to your library on Google Play.

Depending on your bank's policies, these charges are normally reverted within 14 business days. If you find that an authorization charge hasn't been reverted, you can contact your bank to revert the charge.

Some users in select countries are reporting that their temporary authorization charges have not yet been reverted after adding free books to their libraries. Our team is actively investigating this issue at this time.

When I try to open my ebook on the Reader™ from Sony I get a "Page Error"

This error message is caused by the Reader™ from Sony's file size limitations. While most books on Google Play do not exceed this limit of 300 KB per ePub XML file, some titles are larger than this limit and will not work on these Sony devices.

If you have purchased an ebook which you had hoped to read on your Reader™ from Sony, please feel free to request a refund. We apologize about this inconvenience. Unfortunately, the only solution available at this time is for the original publisher of each title to reformat their book before submitting the files to us.

2027, 1106, 2029, 2999, 2020, or 2056 error codes appear in Sony's Reader Library software

If you encounter any of the following error codes when trying to authorize your computer or ebook to Sony's Reader Library software, please visit Sony's support website for resolution steps: 2027, 1106, 2029, 2999, 2020, and 2056. As you will see, Sony recommends that you make sure the firmware of the Reader is current and that you re-authorize your device.

When I try to open my ebook on the Story HD I get a "Download Failed. Please Try again" error

Our team has recently become aware that this is happening for some Story HD users with specific ebooks from our store. We are working with iriver (the company that manufactures the Story HD) to correct this problem, and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We will update this page once this issue has been resolved.

In the meantime, you should be able to read your Google eBook in the Web Reader on your computer, as well as on your smartphone or tablet if you have one. See this link for more information and details.

Please use this form to report errors with the quality of books, including errors in the display of book pages and content, along with bibliographic details about the book. You can also use the form above to report books in the public domain and should be displayed in Full View, as well as illegal or offensive content.

Can't remove book titles from the Google Play Books app library

Our team has identified an issue with the app where if you try to remove a book from your device (using the option "Remove from my library"), it will automatically re-download to your device a little while later. You may even see that the book has been removed from your library on the web (under "My Books" at play.google.com/books), but that the book stays on your device. Our engineers are investigating this issue and working on a resolution. If you should require further support, please contact us.
