The New Blogger

Right: I’ve just tried to post to my blog, using the ‘New blogger’.

Which seems god awful.

It’s wouldn’t accept any of the basic HTML tags I use, nor would it autosave, nor would it accept any YouTube embed code.

I’ve reposted the content concerned, using the legacy blogger.

Will we be forced to use the new one come the end of June, or will we be able to use the legacy version: that still seems to work

What html do I use right now, reading that it will change at the end of the month, of June...

Hi Paul Downie and potentially others,

Please leave feedback about this issue for the developers. Google says there'll be is no going back sometime in July; I suppose that may slip, but the ultimate trajectory is to have one interface i am sure.

"feedback" is the option available in the help menu. On the new interface, it is under a question-mark icon at upper right. On the old interface, it is available from help & feedback at lower left.

Things to know:
  • Posting here is not feedback and does not reach Google.
  • If you get stuck, you can revert back to "legacy" blogger (lower left). But please leave feedback before you go.
  • For the time being, the development team is paying attention to our feedback.
  • The team will not pay as much attention to feedback after the project is completed, they will have other work to do.
  • Google says the switch will be final in July. At that point, the option of reverting to legacy will go away.
It is really in our interest to identify issues and leave feedback now, to improve the experience we will all be stuck with later.

Right: I didn't take a screen shot of the problem, at the time …

But I’ve just done an example post.

In Screenshot one, you can see that I’ve add the embed code for this YouTube video.

You can see that the video — in screenshot two — has not turned into an embedded video.

How — given that — are we supposed to embed YouTube videos in to  post?

As an additional thought … ?

I’ve noticed there’s an Insert from Youtube option.

Which, again, is unsatisfying: as it doesn’t allow you to embed a playlist, nor point you at your YouTube channel.

As a LAST though?

The i, a, b and big tags are un-usable.

The a tags in particular

That  is <i><a href="https://www.oed.com/view/Entry/176480">seriously</a></i> annoying:

Hi Paul,

I hope you are leaving these thoughts as feedback, too.
