Old Blogger photos missing

Old photos on my personal blog using Blogger have disappeared. It's not the case of there being an exclamation point 'missing photo' marker, but rather the photo simply doesn't load.

I can manually replace these photos using the current interface with no problem, but given the number of posts and photos to reference, this would take ages to complete.

There is something about the way the posts used to create links that no longer seems to work when displaying the posts. INTERESTINGLY, the photos show up when I edit the post, but then do not load when I publish the post.

I saw another post from this year suggesting it might be a 'permissions' issue, but the poster simply manually replaced the photos before anyone answered initially. So I'd like to explore this angle if possible. Although to me, it seems like I should, as the owner of the photo (logged in...) be able to see the photos and permissions shouldn't be an issue. Perhaps there is something I am missing.

Thank you in advance for your help!

p.s.

links that don't work look like this:

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GW1waqThd50/UpgHHkvQQeI/AAAAAAABPRY/0vc100IbN9Y/s1600/IMG_2625.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GW1waqThd50/UpgHHkvQQeI/AAAAAAABPRY/0vc100IbN9Y/w640-h426/IMG_2625.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

I can paste that URL starting the http into my browser and the image shows up directly. I can see it when I edit the blog post. However, it does not show up on the published blog for any of the viewers including myself.

p.p.s

I have a feeling this may be related to some of these photos being old google drive photos or perhaps embedded using Picasa when it was still around - if that helps. This was before the migration to Google Photos. I'm hoping there could be a solution other than re-uploading thousands of photos from over the years.

I agree: it does look like a permissions issue.

Which means it is a bug, because permissions for the Album Archive (the thing that Blogger photos are hosted on now, even those from Picasaweb days)--"permissions" as a feature have been depreciated. You can't change them, and they are not supposed to change.

I will report this and get back to you (it might be a few days).

Hello,

I'm an engineer on Blogger working on Photos-related issues. You're right, I do believe your issue is related to the previous issue you mentioned.

To let us investigate further, could you go to https://get.google.com/albumarchive/, click on the speech bubble icon with an exclamation mark in the middle in the top right hand corner, and paste and send the following message:

I grant permission to examine metadata for this account for the purpose of resolving #b_216206831.

Thanks,
Jonn

Hi User 10629400004489685018,

After you granted permission I escalated the issue to the photos team, and I'm working with them to come to a solution. It's unlikely that you're the only user impacted, so some more investigation needs to be done. Unfortunately the circumstances around this are quite complicated and it may take a few months to be fully repair the images.

I am sorry for the inconvenience. I'll do my best to keep this thread updated.

On a related note, you still have access to view/delete these images at Album Archive, and you can download all of your Blogger images using Google Takeout.
