Which steps to take exactly to redirect blogspot to custom domain name?

L.S.,

I want to redirect a blog at blogspot to a custom domain name. When putting in the custom the domain name, the blog should thus come up.

In the settings section at Blogger you find the redirect tools. It seems like you just have choose 'redirect', put in your custom domain name, correct there next error by putting in the Cnames in the DSN of your custom provider and it should work. It does not and Blogger does not provide guidance in this.

I contacted my custom provider and they could see that they had to put in some data to make the redirecting function but they have to know what to adjust and this information has to come from Blogger. Since it is impossible to contact Blogger, which I find absurd since a good manual is not provided either, I now do not know what to do and it is very urgent that this site is functioning well at this time.

Who can help me with this issue, please!!!

Thank you very very much :)

Anne

Hi Anne,

Thanks for sharing your problem today - and welcome to the Blogger Support forums.

Please share both the BlogSpot and domain URLs, so we can help you better. Let's try to diagnose the problem.  It's easier to diagnose a problem, with the blog carefully identified.

[FAQ] What's The BlogSpot and Domain URLs?

Please examine the Publishing wizard, on the Blogger dashboard Settings - Basic page.

Both a screen print, and a text copy, of the Publishing wizard “Blog Address” box can be very useful, in preventing unnecessary confusion.  Please, don't show personal details, such as account name or email address.

Here's what I see, for my custom domain published blog:

blogging.nitecruzr.net                                                 Edit
bloggerstatusforreal.blogspot.com                               redirects

Both URLs, provided as text, are very useful when diagnosing problems like yours.

What do you see, for your blog?

I’ll wait for your answer!

Dear Chuck Croll,

Thank you for answering. I saw you discourse with AbdulRaqaz but I didn't follow it completely and so I didn't know if it was the same problem, I.m sorry.

Here comes the printscreen of the URL and such

Can you provide the URLs as text please?  Both the BlogSpot and domain names are long, and complex - and too easy to mistype.

Here's what I see for my custom domain published blog:

I have read that you also would like to see these so I will attach them already:

Thanks for sharing the URLs.

You'll need to correct your DNS addresses.  Forwarding does not work properly, with Blogger.  You need to use "A” / “CNAME" referral.

You'll get more done, if you learn to read a Dig log.

You have (right now, you should see these addresses, in a Dig):

meditatievedans.nl. 3600 IN A 5.157.84.63
www.meditatievedans.nl. 3600 IN CNAME meditatievedans.nl.

You need (when finished, you should see these addresses, in a Dig):

meditatievedans.nl. 3600 IN A 216.239.32.21
meditatievedans.nl. 3600 IN A 216.239.34.21
meditatievedans.nl. 3600 IN A 216.239.36.21
meditatievedans.nl. 3600 IN A 216.239.38.21
www.meditatievedans.nl. 3600 IN CNAME ghs.google.com.

  • Add the addresses highlighted in green.

  • Remove the addresses highlighted in red.

Notes:

A Dig log is much easier to read, than the different dashboards (of unpredictable format), provided by each different registrar.

After you correct the addresses, be patient and wait until they are effective worldwide.   Don’t make changes, and test immediately - then conclude that the instructions didn't work.

There may be other DNS addresses, not specified here, which you should not change.  If you have questions or uncertainty about any other addresses referenced in the zone editor, please make a screen print and post in your reply.

I hope that this helps you understand your problem!  Please, let me know if you have more questions!

Thanks for the screen prints.

Refer to your screen print "DSN-Manager_CustomProvider.png", please.

Delete records:

A                *.meditatievedans.nl               5.157.84.63
A                meditatievedans.nl                 5.157.84.63
CNAME      www.meditatievedans.nl          meditatievedans.nl

Add records:

A                meditatievedans.nl                 216.239.32.21
A                meditatievedans.nl                 216.239.34.21
A                meditatievedans.nl                 216.239.36.21
A                meditatievedans.nl                 216.239.38.21
CNAME      www.meditatievedans.nl          ghs.google.com

I suggest that you copy then paste the details - one field at a time.  Zone editor entries are very syntax dependent - and your name "meditatievedans" is very complex.  One typographical error could take days to diagnose.

I am sorry, I do not understand the 8 link test? The first four lead to the same blog which is not about my problem, the second two go to a different blog which are also not about my problem, the 7th does not function for me and the 8th leads to my own question on the blogger forum....? I am really trying but I do not seem to get it. I apologize
