Present to a 3D Beam meeting

This article is for Google Beam for Meet.

As with standard Meet meetings, you can present from your laptop in a Beam 3D meeting. The screen you share appears next to you on the Beam display and you remain life-size. You can present a tab, a specific window, or the entire screen in a meeting. The presented content is mirrored on both screens so that your content appears in the same 3D location.

Present in Companion mode only

Because Beam 3D meetings can only take place between 2 Beam rooms, you must present from Companion mode. If you join from your laptop without Companion mode, the meeting automatically switches to a standard Meet meeting to account for you as a third participant. If this happens, both you and your meeting partner should leave and rejoin the meeting to continue in the 3D meeting.

To join from your laptop using Companion mode, you must be on the calendar invite and logged into your Google Workspace account. Choose one of the following options.

• Use a meeting invite: 
  1. In the invite, click Join.
  2. Under Other joining options, click Use Companion mode.
• Use a short link:
  1. In a browser, enter g.co/companion.
  2. On the Meet home screen, select your Beam meeting or enter its meeting code.
• Present using a short link:
  1. In your browser, enter g.co/present.
  2. On the Meet home screen, select your Beam meeting and choose what to share.

Just like in standard video meetings, your laptop microphone and speaker will be turned off to avoid audio feedback. You can also resize the window and magnify fonts from the laptop to make the presentation easier to see.

Differences from standard Meet meetings

Presentation mode on Beam doesn't support the following features:

• Playing audio from what is being presented (for example, a video you're sharing).
• Presenting from an instant meeting (because presenting requires a calendar invite).
• Self-view and picture-in-picture.
• Pinning a second window (whatever you shared most recently is what displays).
• Sharing content may conflict with other participants' feeds. If someone else is presenting, ask them to stop sharing before sharing your content.
