I just got a new Galaxy Note 9 and one thing keeps bothering me. I have a Google Home Mini in my office and ask it things like "what's the temperature" every now and then. I always have my phone on my desk in front of me and when I say "Hey Google" or "OK Google" the screen always turns on the lock screen. Is there a way to disabled Google Assistant while my phone's screen is locked and off so that only the Google Home Mini responds? It's getting frustrating having to keep turning the screen off every time I ask my Home a question.
Only the closest Google Home device that has mic listening enabled should respond to you. It may be worth reviewing the Google Home & phone respond to "OK Google" help article.
I'm not familiar with the Galaxy Note 9 but you may also be able to disable voice match unlock on it. This article explains how you can change "Ok Google" settings.

What you described is true for me. Only the Google Home responds and my phone stats quiet on the lockscreen. But I have my screen set to stay on for 5 minutes without activity before turning off again (I just like it that way for stuff I do). So I constantly have to turn the screen off. Would just be nice if there was an option to disable Google Assistant while the phone is locked and the screen is off.

Google updated to allow Hey Google on the lock screen, but for some rediculous reason didn't think of a use case where you would want that disabled.
I use the assistant on my phone regularly, but also in my home which uses different Google accounts. Both respond. We need a way to disable the assistant when the screen is off, but still use it when the screen is on.

I feel that Chrome/Google are becoming more and more invasive every day. Something seems always to be forced down our throats. Yesterday, Google SHEETS was automatically downloaded to my phone! I do NOT want SHEETS. If I wanted it, I would have taken yawl up on the offer earlier. Now I have "FREE Doc to PDF File Converter" being forced down my throat. I do NOT want it!! I have trusted and enjoyed Adobe for years. I don't appreciate being interrupted during what I expect to be a seamless download of a PDF file, with your offer. Do we, those unhappy customers have to go back to Explorer or somewhere else? Tell us in your store of apps, but please do NOT invade our time and sanity and privacy! If I want this...I know where to find it. You COULD discreetly slip an ad in..a whole PAGE though, is not fair OR necessary! And I want rid of assistant..Please turn it off!!!!!! Or make it easier for us to. Why do you need to force it on people?
