Google home "Sorry I don't understand"
0
I've been having major problems with my google home lately.

I ask it to change a song on Spotify or any other command regarding Spotify for that matter, sometimes it executes the command yet other times it doesn't. The only thing that stays consistent is that it always keeps on saying "sorry I don't understand" a couple of seconds later and I truly don't know what causes it and yes; I have tried turning the home, on and off, resetting it and even disconnecting my Spotify account from it yet nothing has changed.

Please tell me if any of you guys have found a solution to my problem or if I'm the only one experiencing this struggle.

Thanks :)

You are not the only one. Every command I give, successful or not, it says "Sorry, I don't understand" afterwards.

This is just one of the many bugs in this platform...

I wasn't clear. In my case I don't even use Spotify. Any command I do, it executes the command and then says "Sorry, I don't understand".

Massive Google back end error. Responses from Google on here dont know it yet as the company is too big and incapable of spreading information properly. Tomorrow they will be updated and stop telling people to factory reset and check router settings etc. Just wait...

Similar situation here. I have 3 google home mini speakers and 1  LG meridian speaker, all of which were working ok.  Recently on the LG only when I ask for a song or radio station I get what I requested but then get the "sorry i don't understand message".

We have had this exact same issue with an Onkyo VC-GX30.
It completes all requests correctly but about somewhere between 2 to 12 seconds later says "Sorry, I don't understand" OR "Sorry, I didn't understand"
We have several other Google smart speakers but this is the only speaker with this issue.
Commands are always correctly completed but always followed by "Sorry...."
I checked the firmware version of the speaker and it matches the latest version from Onkyo (1.40).

I am in the same boat. Installed it last night and went to bed and google turned my lights off. Success!!! Woke up and now when I say "... turn on" Google says "Sorry, I didn't understand". It worked as advertised for about 12 hours. Money well spent. Instead of focusing on what google.com logo is going to look like everyday spend more money on R&D.... and also release products that actually work.

Same problem here! So frustrating!!!! It’s always played ocean waves when I request it. For days it just says “Sorry, I don’t understand.” I have completely reset it up from the app and the power source 3 times. It still just repeats “I don’t understand” for most everything.

Same issue here.  Worked perfectly fine and now I get this error.  It understands and tries to execute - "says playing Spotify play list and then there is silence followed by the "I don't understand error".  Anyone find a work-around yet?

I’m also having problems setting up Google Home. It constantly tells me ‘Sorry I can’t Understand’ when I request it to play free music on YouTube or Spotify. I never had this problem last year, but with the new updates I cannot get to play any music on Google Home. It is very frustrating. Please fix urgently. Thank you.🙏 ☺️ A frustrated user. 😡

My google home mini is brand new and was working fine. I woke up the morning wanting to listen to Spotify and it has completely glitches. I’ve restarted the Google Home and also relinked my Spotify account and nothing is working. Now when i ask for anything it says “I Don’t understand”. I’ve only had this Google Mini for 4 days....not sure what to do.

I have 3 google homes and 2 of them work perfectly, one that will say' Sure, music on youtube music' and then before it starts to play, it then says 'sorry, I don't understand.' when I cast music from my phone to the speaker it also doesn't respond to any requests to pause, skip change volume. It has been happening for a few weeks now to.

Only thing that worked for me was restarting the device (hold button ~15s) and setting it again.

Like matus said ^, it works when you do a hard reset by holding the button for 15 seconds (should show orange 1 dot, then 2 dots then 3 until 4 dots) add the device to your home after resetting

I had the same problem. I would ask the Google home to play a radio station, it would reply ok “playing .., on TuneIn”. Then it would say sorry I don’t understand. Oddly if I told it to play on a on a different speaker it was fine.

Hard reset as described above fixed it.  (Hold mic button for 15 secs)

Yes just push the button on the back for 15 + seconds and reset and add back to google home!

How do you reset Android Auto in the car?
Assistant still understands "navigate" command, but says "Sorry I didn't understand" when commanded to call a contact even though it shows in writing the correct command.

After understanding the problem, I spent the time to narrow down what specifics trigger this behavior. In my case, I found Personalized Results; when disabled, the assistant works except for PR searches, of course.

One interesting finding is that when I switch the assistant to English Canada's language, PR results works.

I can confidently say that this behavior happens when the English (USA) is selected in language, and personalize results are ON.

This only happens on the Google Pixel 5 device. I own several smart speakers, and it does not exhibit this behavior.

I hope my research adds value to finding a solution.

guys I figures it out,  you need to reset your homes. You will be forced to set it up again, but if you use the same email, then it will transfer the data over. After I did this I'm not having issues anymore, hope this helps :)

reset: hold microphone or on/off button for 15 seconds. google will say that you're about to reset, but just keep holding it down
