Can't turn off carplay on google maps with apple carplay

When I connect my phone to my car via apple carplay my google screen maps changes to only show directions where I cannot look at the map or change anything without exiting the current navigation. I have an Iphone, how do make it so that my screen doesnt change when I connect or start a navigation?

Hi there ,

Check below mentioned settings once:

A: Change Google Maps Settings:

Open the Google Maps app on your iPhone.
Go to "Settings" (tap your profile picture in the top right corner, then select "Settings").
Look for "Navigation" settings and see if there is an option to disable "Simplified view for CarPlay" or similar.

B: Check CarPlay Settings:

Go to your iPhone's "Settings" > "General" > "CarPlay".Select your car from the list of available connections.Customize the layout and ensure that Google Maps is properly set up.

Note : Disable Simplified View (if applicable):Some users have found that disabling the simplified view can help, though this option may not be available in all regions or versions of Google Maps.
