Google assistant keeps cutting my text message short

I am using Android Auto in my Kia. Text messaging hands free with speech to text USED to work GREAT. It still does if my text message is only 6 words or so. Anything longer and assistant literallly just disappears and stops listening. What gives and why does it keep just going away? I find it does it for "give feedback" as well and I find myself shortening my sentence but for text, sometimes I need 3 short sentences but google assistant keeps going away. It is very very annoying. Anyone know how to fix that?

oh, I forgot to mention, if I take my phone off android auto and text message with speech to text with hey google, text XXXX, and then say the message, it works great!!! Only android auto is causing it to cut short. I tried to do it with google home to tests that side of things out but it just said "I can't send texts yet" which is odd considering it can make phone calls and I have google voice too.

I'm sorry, I can't help but starting 2 days ago. My Google Voice to Text on my Android. Has been capitalizing letters all over the place and creating ridiculously short sentences. By inserting a. And a capital letter. It never did this before. It's also sticking tons of commas in many of which are correct, but some are not. It also never did this before.
