how to turn off assistant notification and get back control of my phone. 0 Recommended Answers 45 Replies 590 Upvotes
get rid of Google assistant, including the soliciting notification. Google what a boondoggle you have created with this thing. please create and publicize an easy way to eliminate it entirely from user devices.

Yeah this is extremely irritating. Even enabled the assistant just so I'd actually get the three blue dots in top right corner to disable completely. Now back to square one and it's asking me every couple hours. This issue has been discussed on these forums for 1+ year.
Seems very deliberate that you don't want us to remove the functionality, and that you're trying to jam it down our throats.
Please explain Google. If this issue doesn't receive prompt attention by now it deserves to be plastered all over the net.

GS9+ system update this morning, now Google Assistant will not stop showing up in the notification bar. PLEASE STOP IT. I don't want to try it, I just want it to stop showing up!

I am so frustrated. I get asked 2 or 3 times a day to train voice recognition, even though I have voice commands turned off.
Can't find a way to stop the push notifications, and its just. So. Stupid.
Fix it, Google!!

Hi Thomas,
You can disable the Google Assistant on your device, but you can't totally remove it. Here's how you can do it:
- On your phone, touch & hold the Home button.
- At the top right, tap
More (three dots on the top right corner)
- Turn off Google Assistant.

Hi @Shannon, the problem is, most people here are wanting to remove it completely, including myself.
There are persistent, extremely intrusive notifications on many devices - and Google's silence is not helping.
This is a dirty tactic to try and force people to use a product they clearly don't want to use.
Again. This has been discussed on this forums for one year, and no resolution in sight. Google's silence is deliberate and it's time we all publicised this through our networks.

- Open Google Assistant.
- Click on explore option at the top right corner, then more icon (3 vertical dots) option at the top right corner.
- Now tap on Send Feedback.

Problem is that with my S9 if you hold down the home button there is no menu (three dots) ANYWHERE. You guys are making it easier and easier for me to want to switch to Apple. Keep it up.

Disabling it doesn't do shit. It keeps nagging you to turn it back on. Google has become completely evil. Anonymous, can you help us?
