An incident has been created at Marshall end and a fix should be (hopefully) delivered soon.

- The model name of your phone.
- The iOS or Android software version on your device (normally located in Settings / About Phone menu).
- The software version of the Google Home App installed on your phone.
- The serial number of your speaker, which can be located on the back panel. It starts with 73400553...
- If possible, the proof of purchase for your speaker.

Just a small tweak , when it freezes with 4 lights just hit the mute button , the issue looks like when reaching google server it hangs .mute helps to kill that hung state .

Which Marshall model do you have?
How did you contact Marshall Support? Was it by email or an online contact form? I assume it was not by phone...
Thanks again.
PS: Side note (not directed to you of course):
Since THIS issue seems to affect everyone who owns the Marshall device models mentioned in this thread, Marshall should proactively push / offer this update (that you referred to) to all impacted devices, without having to contact them.
Will post the outcome here after I hear back from Marshall.

I have contacted Marshall, and they -indeed- requested the info as mentioned above. Wonder why the want to have your Android and OS version (having the problems with both my Phone and Tablet). Waiting for response from Marshall.
I also contacted the Marshapp via IP, and logged in. But you cannot connect to upload new firmware, nor find new firmware on the internet.. (that is how I came to this site). It would be fine if Marshall would post, or at least, push the new firmware if available.

At the time they advised me they were working on it.
In today's update, they stated that they elevated this issue and details to their Product Software Team, they are addressing this issue as urgent and are working to identify the root cause and that they would update me as soon as they know more.
Fingers crossed for a quick resolution.
In the meantime, I played Spotify on my Marshall Stanmore II using the Bluetooth connection option and the Spotify app on my phone to select songs to play (as a workaround to using voice to play music on the Marshall).
We have a Lenovo Smart Clock (the one with the screen) in the room where Marshall #1 is located, so I am using that for the time being for voice commands ('Hey Google').
In the other room where Marshall #2 is located, we have a Smart TV with Google Assistant as a temporary workaround...

Hello,
We are receiving feedback from some users that they have been able to complete a Google Home update and that the issue was resolved once the update was resolved.
Can you please check for a Google Home update, complete a power cycle on your phone and then try a new setup?
