Why is google not responding to "ok google" after phone calls? 0 Recommended Answers 7 Replies 6 Upvotes

Assistent is responding fine as long as I don't use the phone to call somebody. After calling the mic is blocked? I have to start the Assistent with hombutton. Then it's listening again to ok Google and its also responding.
The issue can be reproduced easily.
Happening on an Samsung galaxy s8

Hi Sebastian,

Welcome to the Google Assistant help community. Try each of the following steps before moving on to the next to see if your Google Assistant issue is resolved:

If your Android phone isn't responding when you ask Ok, Google , go to https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/7283669?hl=en&ref_topic=7172845

Is your Android operating system updated? Open Android Settings > System (or About Phone) > Advanced > System Update > Check for update. If device updates, reboot phone when update is complete.

Check to see if your Android phone has your home address entered at https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/7394009?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en

Open Android Settings > Apps > Google (G) app > Permissions > turn ON every choice provided.

Turn OFF Alexa or Bixby voice assistant on your Android phone, if equipped, using device user manual.

Hope that helps

So I went through your tips and unfortunately non of them helped. I tried cleaning cache, factory reset. Software is up to date. All permissions are granted.
My home address is integrated.
I'm not sure if this is a Google or Samsung problem. But I appreciate every help I can get.

Thanks for writing back,

Try these suggestions also:-
  1. Check if your device Assist app is set to Google: Go to device Settings > tap on App or Application manager> tap on Gear icon at the top right corner > Assist and Voice input > under Assist App make sure Google is selected.
  2. Check if the Google app is updated to the latest version? To check, visit Play Store and got to the Google App page. If you see update button, try updating the app that may help resolve this issue.
  3. Go to Google app> Settings >Voice > Ok Google detection > Make sure Ok Google at any time option is enabled.
  4. Your Google Voice and Audio Activity and Web & App Activity must be enabled.
  5. If you are using any VPN, it is recommended to disable the VPN services.
  6. Check if Trusted Voice option is enabled? To enable it, go to Google app settings > Voice
Keep me posted.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S8 with Android Pie?

I have a work around. I did not initiate bixby. When doing that (set up your voice for bixby) the Google Assistent is able to listen to your voice after a call.
