Please read below to learn more about how ordering food with Google works on Google Search and Google Maps.

Consumer information

When you use Google food ordering from restaurants’ business profiles listed on Google Search or Google Maps, you’re browsing restaurants that have chosen to feature themselves to you through a partnership with Google directly or with a delivery service provider which has a partnership with Google. Ranking for Google food ordering is not determined by those partnerships and is instead, by default, based on a combination of objective factors that will help you find relevant and useful food-ordering results. Those factors are based on partner performance of confirmed orders.

Google puts you in relation with the partners to fulfill your food order from the restaurant of your choice. When you place an order using Google, you’re contracting directly with the partner. Google will show you a clear breakdown of your order’s price, including applicable tax, tip, and any applicable service and/or delivery fees. To pay for your Google food order, you must have and use a Google Pay account. This means that Google will pass along your payment credentials to the partner and its corresponding payment processor.

As an intermediary, Google does not offer any insurance or guarantee, and does not take part in the resolution of disputes that may arise between you and the partner you’ve chosen. If there is a dispute between you and the restaurant or delivery provider that you’ve selected, please refer to the dispute resolution measures offered by the partner fulfilling your order. If you believe that a partner may be violating the Actions on Google policies, you can report a problem with Google Search.

Please note that you do not have a right of withdrawal in the EU for Google food ordering, due to the nature of food ordering itself.

Product information

To integrate with (and feature their restaurants and menus on) Google’s food ordering platform, restaurants and providers that process and deliver food orders can enter a partnership contract with Google. Partners who feature their services on the platform are participating in commercial activity. While those partners may charge users service fees for delivery, pick-up fees, and other costs, Google is not currently being compensated as a result of those partnerships.

Ordering food with Google is available for those partners that have integrated with the platform and can comply with Google’s Actions on Google policies and terms of service, as those aggregators or restaurants are the ones that can actually fulfill a user’s order via Google Search or Google Maps. Currently, ordering food with Google is an early access program for potential partners seeking to integrate with the platform.
