You can ask your Google Assistant to find photos of people you’ve labeled as your family members in Google Photos. You can view photos of your family on your phone, smart display, or any screen you can cast to.
Important: This feature isn't available in all countries.
Step 1: Create or join a Google family group
You can create a family group with up to 6 people. When you create the group, you become the family manager. Learn how to create a family group with your Google Assistant.
If you’ve already been invited to join a family group, accept the email invitation.
Step 2: Label your family members in Google Photos
To ask your Google Assistant to find photos of your family, you need to label your family members in Google Photos. Use the same labels in Google Photos that you used for those people in your family group or contacts.

Important: Google Photos doesn’t store a connection between face labels and your family members’ Google accounts. Learn more about face models.
Add relationship labels
You can ask your Google Assistant to add relationships to your family members.
- Say "Hey Google" or press the button to talk to your Assistant.
- Say something like "My husband’s name is Ryan."
- Your Assistant will show you your list of contacts with that name. Choose the correct contact from the list or create a new one if you haven’t already.
Step 3: Find photos of a family member or the whole family
You can ask your Google Assistant to search for photos of an individual family member or the whole family.
For example, you can say:
- "Hey Google, show me photos of my Mom."
- "Hey Google, find pictures of my husband in Greece."
- "Hey Google, show me photos of my family."
You can also ask your Google Assistant to show the photos on another device. For example, you can say:
- "Hey Google, show photos of my family on the TV."
