Set & manage reminders

Important: To help you manage your to-dos in one place, Google Assistant and Google Calendar reminders will become Google Tasks. Learn about the switch from Reminders to Google Tasks.

You can set, edit, and delete reminders with Google Assistant.

Tip: For Digital Wellbeing to work correctly, your devices and apps must be up to date.

Set up reminders

To use reminders on a shared Google Assistant device, like a speaker or Smart Display:

  1. Turn on personal results.
  2. Set up Voice Match.

Create a reminder

Important: The option to set reminders for a certain location is no longer available. You can still set reminders at a certain time and set routines for some locations.

With Google Assistant

You can ask Google Assistant to set a reminder for you. For example, you can say:

  • "Hey Google, set a reminder."
  • "Hey Google, remind me to call Mom at noon tomorrow."

On the Web

To set a reminder in a browser, go to Google Tasks and click Create .

Check your reminders

With Google Assistant

You can ask Google Assistant to tell you your reminders. For example, you can say:

  • “Hey Google, what are my reminders?”
  • “Hey Google, open reminders.”

On the Web

To get a list of your reminders, go to Google Tasks.

You can also go to the reminders page in the Google Assistant app and the Google app.

In the Google Assistant app

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings."
  2. Under "All settings," tap Reminders.

In the Google app

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app Google app.
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Reminders.

Manage your reminder settings

Edit a reminder on your phone

You can manage your tasks in the Google Assistant settings.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Tasks."
  2. Tap the task you want to edit.
  3. Select your preferences.

Edit a reminder with your voice

You can change a task’s details, like the time. For example, you can say, “Hey Google, change my task to buy milk to 5 PM.”

Close a reminder

When you don’t need a task anymore, you can mark it as completed.

On a phone

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings."
  2. Under "All settings," tap Tasks.
  3. Check the circle next to the task you want to mark as completed.

On a computer

  1. On your computer, go to Google Reminders.
  2. Check the circle next to the task you want to mark as completed.

Delete a reminder

You can delete a single task or all of your tasks. For example, you can say:
  • “Hey Google, delete my task to empty the dishwasher.”
  • “Hey Google, delete all of my tasks.”

Manage your reminder notifications

Important: Settings can vary by phone. For more info, contact your device manufacturer.

In your Settings app

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications and then Notifications.
  3. Tap your Google app Google app.
  4. Turn Reminders on or off.

Remember where you parked your car with the Google Assistant

You can ask your Google Assistant to remember where you parked your car.

Important: Some features aren't available in all languages, countries or regions, or eligible Android devices.

Step 1: Turn on your location
When you turn on your location, your Assistant can give more details about where you parked. 
  1. On your phone, open the Settings app Settings.
  2. Under "Personal," tap Location.
  3. Turn on your location.
Step 2: Tell your Google Assistant where you parked
  1. On your phone, touch and hold the Home button or say "Hey Google."
  2. Say, for example:
    • "I parked here."
    • "Remember where I parked."
    • "I parked my car on level 2."
    • "I parked in the south lot."
    • "My parking spot is F34."
  1. To type instead, tap Type Type.
Tip: The first 2 examples only work if you turned on your location.
Step 3: Ask where you parked
  1. On your phone, touch and hold the Home button or say "Hey Google."
  2. Ask, for example:
    • "Where’s my car?"
    • "Where did I park?"
    • "Do you remember where I parked?"
  3. To type instead, tap Type Type.

Your Google Assistant will tell you where you parked. If you turn on location, you’ll find a map that shows your parking location.

Tip: You can ask your Assistant for your parking location even when you forgot to say where you parked. Learn how to turn on the parking location card.

Ask Google Assistant to remember things

Get a little help to remember things. Ask Google Assistant to remember your mom's favorite cake, your bike locker number, or the last place you stored your passport.

Important: If Digital Wellbeing is turned on, this feature may be restricted or blocked by “Downtime,” “Filters,” or “Do not disturb.”

Step 1: Tell Assistant what to remember

Say "Hey Google, remember that [thing to remember]." For example, you can say "Hey Google, remember that my spare keys are in the kitchen cabinet."

Step 2: Ask about what Assistant remembers

Say "Hey Google, where or what is [thing to remember]." For example, you can say "Hey Google, where are my spare keys?"

Optional: Delete what you've asked Assistant to remember

Tip: You can choose to delete your activities individually or delete all.

Delete a single item
  1. Open myactivity.google.com.
  2. Find the item you’d like to delete.
  3. Tap More More menu and then Delete.
Delete all items
  1. Open myactivity.google.com.
  2. Tap Delete All and then Confirm.
Delete personal details

Some of the information you tell Google Assistant will update your settings in addition to your query logs in My Activity such as:

  • Your nickname
  • Information about your close contacts
  • Important addresses

For this information, when you delete the history from “My Activity,” it won’t be deleted from settings.

To delete this information, you can:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account and then Assistant settings and then You.
  3. Find the personal detail you want to remove and delete it.
