You can set, edit, and delete tasks with Google Assistant.
- Tasks might get restricted or blocked if you use Digital Wellbeing tools like Downtime or Filters.
- You can also create, check, and edit Google Tasks.
Tip: For Digital Wellbeing to work correctly, your devices and apps must be up to date.
Set up tasks
To use tasks on a shared Google Assistant device, like a speaker or Smart Display:
Create a task
Important: The option to set tasks for a certain location is no longer available. You can still set tasks for a certain time and set routines for some locations.
With Google Assistant
You can ask Google Assistant to set a task for you. For example, you can say:
- "Hey Google, set a task."
- "Hey Google, remind me to call Mom at noon tomorrow."
On the web
To set a task in a browser:
- On your computer, go to Google Tasks.
- Click Create .

In the Google Assistant app
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Assistant app .
- Tap your Profile picture or initial.
- Under “All settings,” tap Tasks.
In the Google app
- Open the Google app .
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial Tasks.
Manage your task settings
Edit a task with your voiceYou can change a task’s details like the time. For example, you can say: “Hey Google, change my task to buy milk to 5:00 PM.”
When you don’t need a task anymore, you can mark it as completed.
On an iPhone or iPad
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Assistant app .
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial.
- Tap Services Tasks.
- Mark the circle next to the task you want to mark as completed.
On a computer
- On your computer, go to Google Tasks.
- Mark the circle next to the task you want to mark as completed.
You can delete a single task or all of your tasks. For example, you can say:
- “Hey Google, delete my task to empty the dishwasher.”
- “Hey Google, delete all of my tasks.”
Manage your task notifications
- On your iPhone or iPad, you can either:
- Open the Settings app.
- Say “Hey Google, open Settings.”
- Tap Notifications Google Notifications.
- Turn Tasks on or off.
