Set & manage reminders

Important: To help you manage your to-dos in one place, Google Assistant and Google Calendar reminders will become Google Tasks. Learn about the switch from Reminders to Google Tasks.

You can set, edit, and delete reminders with Google Assistant.

Tip: For Digital Wellbeing to work correctly, your devices and apps must be up to date.

Set up reminders

To use reminders on a shared Google Assistant device, like a speaker or Smart Display, turn on personal results and set up Voice Match.

Create a reminder

Important: The option to set reminders for a certain location is no longer available. You can still set reminders at a certain time and set routines for some locations.

With Google Assistant 

You can ask Google Assistant to set a reminder for you. For example, you can say:

  • "Hey Google, set a reminder."
  • "Hey Google, remind me to call Mom at noon tomorrow."

On the Web 

To set a reminder in a browser, go to Google Reminders and click Create Add.

Check your reminders

With Google Assistant

You can ask Google Assistant to tell you your reminders. For example, you can say:

  • “Hey Google, what are my reminders?”
  • “Hey Google, open reminders.”

On the Web

To get a list of your reminders, go to Google Reminders .

You can also go to the reminders page in the Google Assistant app and the Google app.

In the Google Assistant app

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings."
  2. Under "All settings," tap Reminders.

In the Google app

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your Google app Google app.
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Reminders.

Manage your reminder settings

Edit a reminder on your phone

You can manage your reminders in the Google Assistant settings.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings." 
  2. Under "All settings," tap Reminders.
  3. Tap a reminder and then Edit Edit.
  4. Enter the reminder details.

Edit a reminder with your voice

You can change a reminder’s details, like the time. For example, you can say:

  • “Hey Google, what’s my next reminder?” “Hey Google, change it to 5 PM.”

Close a reminder

When you don’t need a reminder anymore, you can mark it as ‘Done’.
On a phone
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings." 
  2. Under "All settings," tap Reminders
  3. Check the box next to the reminder you want to mark as complete.
On a computer
  1. On your computer, go to Google Reminders.
  2. Check the box next to the reminder you want to close.

Delete a reminder

You can delete a single reminder or all of your reminders. For example, you can say:
  • “Hey Google, delete my reminder to empty the dishwasher.”
  • “Hey Google, delete all of my reminders.”

Manage your reminder notifications

In your Settings app

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications And then Notifications.
  3. Tap your Google app Google Search.
  4. Turn Reminders on or off.
