Set, manage & assign reminders

You can ask Google Assistant to set, repeat, and delete reminders.

Tip: Reminders might be restricted or blocked if you use Digital Wellbeing tools like Downtime or Filters.

Tip: You can also create, check, and edit your reminders on the web.

Set up reminders

Create a reminder

From Google Assistant 

You can ask Google Assistant to set a reminder for you. For example, you can say:

  • "Hey Google, set a reminder."
  • "Hey Google, remind me to call Mom at noon tomorrow."

You can set the reminder for a certain time or location, but not both.

From the Web 

To create a reminder from the web, in a mobile browser, go to Google Reminders and click Create Add.

Check your reminders

From Google Assistant

You can ask the Google Assistant to tell you about your reminders.

For example, you can say:

  • “Hey Google, what are my reminders?”
  • “OK Google, open reminders.”

From the Web

To see a list of all the reminders you created, visit Google Reminders from a mobile web browser.

The reminders webpage is also accessible from the following entry points: 

  • Google Assistant Settings on your phone

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings." On iOS, Open the Google Assistant app and tap your Profile picture or initial.
  2. Under "All settings," tap Reminders.
  • Google App on your phone

  1. Open the Google app Google app.
  2. On your Android phone or tablet, Tap More and then Reminders. On iOS, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Reminders.

Assign a reminder to someone

Important: This feature isn't available in all languages and it won't work if you use a Google Account through work or school.

You can assign reminders to:

For example, you can say:

  • "Hey Google, remind Ryan to load the dishwasher every day at 8pm."
  • "Hey Google, remind Tom to get a latte when he’s at Starbucks."

When you assign a reminder to someone, they get notifications on their device if they're signed in to the Google Assistant app. Both you and the person you assign a reminder to can edit or delete the reminder at any time.

Control who can assign a reminder to you

You can choose who can assign reminders to you. You can block or unblock people at any time.

Google Assistant on your phone

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings." 
  2. Under "All settings," tap Assignable reminders.
  3. Choose who can and can’t assign reminders to you.

Check reminders for you

You can ask the Google Assistant to tell you about your assigned reminders for the day.

For example, you can say:

  • “Hey Google, what are my reminders from Dave.”

Check reminders you made for others

You can ask the Google Assistant about what reminders you assigned to other people. For example, you can say:

  • “Hey Google, what reminders have I sent to Katie?”
  • “Hey Google, show me the reminders for Bill.”
  • “Hey Google, show me the reminders completed by Molly."

Edit a reminder

You can change the details of an assigned reminder, like the time it's due or the person it’s assigned to. For example, you can say:
  • “Hey Google, show the next reminder for Ellie”; “Hey Google, change it to 5pm”
If you edit a reminder you assigned to someone else, that person will get a notification.

Delete a reminder

You can delete a reminder you made for someone else. For example, you can say:
  • “Hey Google, delete the reminder from Elizabeth”.
If you delete a reminder you assigned to someone else, that person will get a notification.

Manage reminders on the web

You can always visit Google Reminders on a mobile web browser to manage all your existing reminders, make any changes, and create reminders.

To create a reminder, go to Google Reminders and click Create Add.

To mark a reminder as complete, check the box next to the reminder.

To change or delete a reminder, tap on a reminder to open the detailed view. Edit the reminder details and tap Save. To delete the reminder, tap Delete.

Edit a reminder on your phone

You can manage your reminders in the Google Assistant settings.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings." 
  2. Under "All settings," tap Reminders.
  3. Tap a reminder and then Edit Edit.
  4. Enter the reminder details.

Edit a reminder with your voice

You can change the details of a reminder, like the time, location. For example, you can say:

  • “Hey Google, what’s my next reminder?”; “Hey Google, change it to 5 PM”

Close a reminder

When you don’t need a reminder anymore, you can mark it as ‘Done’.
On a phone
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings." 
  2. Under "All settings," tap Reminders
  3. Check the box next to the reminder you want to mark as complete.
On a computer
  1. On your computer, go to Google Reminders.
  2. Check the box next to the reminder you want to close.

Delete a reminder

You can delete a single reminder or all of your reminders. For example, you can say:
  • “Hey Google, delete my reminder to empty the dishwasher.”
  • “Hey Google, delete all of my reminders.”

In your Settings app

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications And then Notifications.
  3. Tap your Google app Google Search.
  4. Turn Reminders on or off.
