Customize your Google Assistant for Android TV

On Android TVs, the Google Assistant is available in English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian), Spanish, Swedish, and Vietnamese. More languages are coming soon.

You can ask your Assistant to do more for you, like play songs from your favorite music services or control your smart home devices. To get these features, change the Google Assistant settings on your phone.

Step 1: Get the Google Assistant on your phone

  1. Make sure your phone has iOS or iPadOS 11.0 or later.
  2. Get the Google Assistant app.
  3. On your iPhone or iPad, sign in to the same Google Account you use on Android TV:
    • Find the account you use on Android TV: On your Android TV, go to Settings and then Accounts. The account will be selected.
    • Find or switch the account on your phone:
      1. Open the Google Assistant app Assistant (iOS).
      2. At the top right, tap your Profile image or initial.
      3. Near the top, you'll find the account, or email address.
      4. If it doesn't match the account on your Android TV, tap your email address to change or add an account.

Step 2: Customize your Google Assistant

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Assistant app Assistant (iOS).
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile image or initial.
  3. Choose the settings to customize, like:
    • Choose your default music service: Tap Music and then select a music service.
