Listen to news or podcasts

You can ask your Google Assistant to play your favorite news stations and podcasts.

  1. Say "Ok Google" or press the button to talk to your Assistant.
  2. Say a command, for example:

Play the news

  • Listen to the news
  • Tell me the news
  • What’s the latest in technology?
  • Listen to [news source name]

Play a podcast

  • Listen to [podcast name].
  • Play [podcast name].
  • Listen to the latest episode of [podcast name].

Control what’s playing

  • Pause or stop: Pause. Stop. Stop the [news or podcast].
  • Resume: Resume. Continue playing. Continue playing [news or podcast].
  • Next: Skip. Next. Play next.
  • Previous: Previous. Play previous.
  • Find info: What’s playing?

Change the volume

You can set the volume to a specific level (1–10) or percent (1–100%).

  • Increase: Turn it up. (Increases volume by 10%).
  • Decrease: Turn it down. (Decreases volume by 10%).
  • Set a level or percentage: Volume 5. Volume to 65%.

Choose your news sources like NPR or Fox

You can choose your news sources by going to Google Assistant settings on your phone or tablet.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, touch and hold the Home button or say "Ok Google."
  2. At the top right, tap Explore & Your stuff and then More More and then Settings and then News.
  3. Add or remove news sources.
  4. To decide which news sources you hear first, tap Change order.
