My watch won't stay connected

If your watch is having trouble staying connected to your phone, try restarting your phone and then your watch. If you still can't stay connected, try the tips below.

Note: If you’re having trouble connecting your watch for the first time, try these steps to connect to your watch.

1 Check your Bluetooth connection

To make sure your phone's Bluetooth is turned on:

  1. From your home screen, open your iPhone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. Make sure that Bluetooth is set to On.

To make sure your watch is not in Airplane mode:

  1. If your screen is dim, tap the screen to wake up the watch.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  3.  Tap Settings Settings.
    • If you don't see it right away, swipe left and then tap Settings Settings.
  4. Scroll until you see Airplane mode and make sure it says Off.
2 Make sure the Android Wear app is running

On your iPhone, the Android Wear app needs to be running in the background for your watch to stay connected to your iPhone. To check, just open the Android Wear app on your phone.

3 If nothing else works

1. Unpair your watch from your phone

  1. From the Settings app, touch Bluetooth
  2. In the list of devices, find your Android Wear device and tap the “i” to the right.
  3. To unpair, touch Forget This Device

This isn’t the same as unpairing your watch from the Android Wear app.

2 Reset your watch to factory settings

Note: When you reset your watch to factory settings, apps, settings, and data on your watch will all be erased.

  1. If your screen is dim, tap the screen to wake up the watch.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings Settingsand then System.
    • If you don't see Settings when you swipe down from the top of the screen, swipe left and then tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap Disconnect and reset .
    • If you don't see Disconnect and reset, tap Unpair with phone .
  4. To confirm you’d like to unpair and reset your phone, tap Done Done.

3. Pair your watch and phone again

  1. On your phone, open the Android Wear app Android Wear.
  2. At the top of the screen, tap the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  3. Select Pair with new wearable.
  4. To finish reconnecting your watch, follow the instructions on your phone or tablet.
