My remote won’t pair with Nexus Player

If your remote won’t connect with your Nexus Player, try the troubleshooting steps below. 

Re-pair your remote
  1. On the bottom of your Nexus Player, press the button. This puts your Nexus Player into pairing mode and it will search for your remote.
  2. On your remote, press and hold the Back button and Home button at the same time for a full five seconds. Release the buttons. 
  3. You’ll see the remote listed on the TV screen. Your remote should automatically connect with your TV after a few moments. 
    • If you see more than one accessory, you can use the button on the bottom of your Nexus Player to switch between accessories. To move between options, press the button once. To select, press and hold the button for two seconds.
Restart your Nexus Player, then remove and reinsert your remote batteries
  1. Restart your Nexus Player by unplugging the power cord. Wait 10 seconds. Then plug the power cord back in. 
  2. On the back of your remote, slide off the cover with the ASUS logo and remove the batteries. Wait five seconds, then insert the batteries, following the +/- guidance. Put the cover back on.
  3. On the bottom of your Nexus Player, press the button. This puts your Nexus Player into pairing mode and it will search for your remote.
  4. On your remote, press and hold the Back button and Home button at the same time for a full five seconds. Release the buttons. 
  5. You’ll see the remote listed on the TV screen. Your remote should automatically connect with your TV after a few moments. 
    • If you see more than one accessory, you can use the button on the bottom of your Nexus Player to switch between accessories. To move between options, press the button once. To select, press and hold the button for two seconds.

If this doesn’t work, move on to the next step.

Reset your Nexus Player to factory settings
  1. Follow the steps to reset your Nexus Player to factory settings using the button on your Nexus Player. 
  2. On the bottom of your Nexus Player, press the button. This puts your Nexus Player into pairing mode and it will search for your remote.
  3. On your remote, press and hold the Back button and Home button at the same time for a full five seconds. Release the buttons. 
  4. You’ll see the remote listed on the TV screen. Your remote should automatically connect with your TV after a few moments. 
    • If you see more than one accessory, you can use the button on the bottom of your Nexus Player to switch between accessories. To move between options, press the button once. To select, press and hold the button for two seconds.
