Verify your payment method

Verification helps your bank protect your account. Depending on your bank, you can choose from the following verification options. Your verification code comes from your bank, not Android Pay.
Note: Make sure your bank has your current phone number and email address so codes are sent to the right place.
How you can verify
By email or text
When you verify by email or text, your bank should send a verification code within a few minutes. If you don’t get one, contact your bank.
You can call your bank directly to get a verification code. For some banks, you can request a call directly through Android Pay.
By bank app
You may need to sign in to your bank's app to verify your card. If your bank's app isn't installed, you may be asked to install it, and then come back to Android Pay to verify your card.
By temporary charge
A small charge, usually under $1, may temporarily show up on your card's account balance. Or the card issuer may notify you about the charge somehow, like text or email.
To find your temporary charge verification code:
- Sign into your bank account online or on a mobile app.
- Find the charge that matches the amount you saw in Android Pay.
- Enter the six-digit code in the charge’s description. For example, if the description says CODE 123456<ANDROID PAY>, enter 123456 as your verification code.
Fix problems verifying a card
Didn’t get code
- Make sure you’re checking the phone number, email address, app, or bank account associated with your verification method.
- Check that your device has signal or is connected to Wi-Fi.
- If you still don’t get your code, choose a different verification method from the list and try again.
- If that doesn’t work, call your bank.
Code not working
- Double-check that you entered the code correctly.
- Choose a different verification method and try again.
- If your code still isn’t working, call your bank.
