Download the Google Wallet app

To get started with Google Wallet, download and set up the app.

Important: If you already have the Google Pay app, you can access Google Wallet through Google Pay. If you want to access Google Wallet directly, download the Google Wallet app.

Tips:

  • The Google Wallet app won’t work on a rooted device.
  • Google Wallet also doesn't support work profiles.
    • If you have a work profile on your Android device, you must use your personal profile with Google Wallet.

Get the Google Wallet app

From the Play Store, download the Google Wallet app.

Set up Google Wallet

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Follow the setup instructions.
    • If you’re new to Google Wallet, you’re asked to add a card the first time you open the app. You can use your camera to scan a debit or credit card or enter the details manually.
    • If you previously added cards, tickets, or passes to your wallet with Google Pay, they should appear in your Google Wallet.
    • You may be asked to set up a screen lock on your Android device.
  3. To make contactless payments, make sure your phone meets software standards, has NFC, NFC is turned on, and Google Pay is set as the default payment app.
