Works fine on my old note 10. Tried changing versions, uninstalling and reinstalling, cable etc.
Is this a known issue?

In the week of April 15, I uninstalled and reinstalled both Chrome and Android Auto apps. The disconnection problem was still occurring. So unfortunately the only fix that is stable is to uninstall Chrome from my phone entirely so the AA app can run while I drive.  Pretty pathetic fix if you ask me.  Looking forward for an actual resolution fix soon.
