P30pro with AA on Opel/Vauxhall Insignia 2018 with original Intellilink 4.0 not working 2 Recommended Answers 10 Replies 0 Upvotes

My opel insignia headunit wont recognize my usb connected p30 pro, have been using it with Huawei P9, Mate9, P20pro before, always worked. When connecting the new p30pro nothing happens, AA App does not find the connected car. Trying my p20pro again, works instant, phone switches to black AA screen and carscreen switches to AA, also on android 9.0.1
Tried cache and data delete, reinstall, factory reset on phone and car, developer mode with usb debugging, switch to mtp mode, developer mode in AA, no chance to get it working. AA works on the phone but not on my cars display. 
SW details:
Last Securitypatch: 5.6.2019
AndroidAuto: 4.4.592344

So annoyed of the problem, do you have any suggestions i can try to get AA to work on my p30pro? Please help

Hi, welcome to the Android Auto forum.
Apparently there seems to be no problem of AA but of the P30 that unlike the other devices does not connect to your car. We advise you to ask for the assistance service of your device specifying that with the other previous models everything worked correctly ... here is a link that could be useful found on the web. https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/support/

Unfortunately its not a problem from p30pro, as i tried it also with my friends p30pro which runs on exact same software (phone and AA) and i managed it to get a connection. After that i made a full reset of my phone and my radio, and immediately tested AA after all essential google updates, his is working, mine is not. Every single setting is the same, i dont get why i cant connect to AA... Connection to the pc is no problem, so the usb port must be ok...
Also talked to huawei support they dont have a clue why..

This might be a connectivity issue as stupid as it sounds.
If everything is the same, one phone works and the other doesn't it's possible that there is a problem with the P30 pro. You could potentially try your P30 pro in a different car and see if it works there, there is a slim chance that the connection issue is caused by a combination of headunit + phone + cable, and individually all of them work properly, yet together they fail to do so. 
Try going into a dealership and test the P30 pro there in case you do not have any friends/relatives who also have an AA compatible car.

Yes I think so too, it must be a connection problem somehow. I also tried right now to reset my phone again and try it with a new Google account, because I thought there might be a problem with any setting in there, but its still the same..
Im gonna try it with a friend's car the next days, also thought this might solve any connection issues on my phone. 
I'm gonna keep this thread updated till I find the solution :)

The solution used by the OP is one which is slightly convoluted :)
He basically used another phone (older one) which plays the role of Wifi receiver antenna, and connected to the P30 over Wifi
