Third party apps no longer showing in Android Auto 1 Recommended Answer 30 Replies 24 Upvotes

Over the last week, all third party apps disappeared from the Android Auto media players, both in app standalone, and in the car radio interface.   The only apps showing were google music and google podcasts.   I frequently listen to audiobooks through the Audible app, or a near local news station through iHeartRadio, so their absence has been a source of frustration.   I currently have a workaround, putting it in 'Developer Mode', and selecting unknown sources, but that shouldn't have to be necessary to use the app.

I am having the same problem. I just switched from an One Plus 5 to a Samsung S10 and when all the apps installed onto the new phone, the only apps showing in Android Auto is Google Play Music, Google Play Music, and  Google Podcast. Everything else is unavailable.

All the 3rd party apps are still available on the One Plus 5.

IF there's a fix, it would be greatly appreciated!

+1, this is incredibly frustrating. I do a lot of driving, and these apps are some of the only ones I use. I believe this to be an issue with the Android software (Android Auto/Play Services) in the phone, because the same behavior occurred when it had never been plugged into my car's head unit. To confirm: NO 3rd party applications are being made available as possible listening choices (Spotify, Pandora, Audible, Pocketcasts...none are available). That suggests that this is NOT an issue with the 3rd party software. So we can skip this question: I have restarted the phone and reinstalled all the apps multiple times, including Android Auto. Everything is up to date.

In my case, it's suspiciously similar to Vanessa's. I also recently upgraded to a Samsung S10+ from a Samsung S8 Note. The S8 Note's apps are still available, the Samsung S10 has never found them (same Android Auto build version on both).
