Can't use microphone on Gboard to enter text in Google Messenger when Android Auto is plugged to USB

When I'm stopped it is much faster to view and respond to text messages via Google messages and Gboard voice entry  on my phone.

This has always worked previously, and works with other apps like Facebook messenger, but not Google Messenger.

If I want to use the voice to text on Gboard, I need to unplug USB to disable Android Auto and then plug it back in when I want to use maps.  Or I'm forced to use the keyboard which takes much longer for my big fat fingers.

I know you can use Android Auto voice messaging, but it never works correctly ,takes way too many steps and it's just not worth using.

It is 10 times faster to just grab my phone when stopped, open my messages and dictate a response quickly.

Does anyone know why this feature stopped working?

I have this issue as well. I'm using Android Auto wirelessly and the microphone just ignores whatever I say.

Same deal with me. I just got a Galaxy note 20 ultra and Gmail simply ignores my voice on Gmail when it's plugged up. You know it's kind of strange because as I am typing this reply I have Android auto plugged in and it's working but I know this is not through Gmail. Any help with this would be very much appreciated. Nothing personal but I am glad I am not the only person experiencing this problem. If I called Verizon to ask them, they would have told me that this was the first time they had ever heard of this!

I'm having the exact same issue.   I can voice to text on instagram without any issues, but if I try to voice to text on google messages I have to unplug my phone to do it.
