Note 20 no audio on Android Auto 1 Recommended Answer 48 Replies 37 Upvotes

I have the new Note 20 Ultra.  When I connect to Android Auto I can select something like Google Play Music or YouTube Music (or any other source) and there is no sound.  The display shows that it's playing but there is nothing.  If I unplug the phone and use the Bluetooth connection, the music plays fine.  Even when I can't play music, phone calls work as expected while using Android Auto.

Things I have tried....

-Two different vehicles with same results.
-Three different USB Type C cables
-Cleared Bluetooth connections on all devices and re-paired
-Restarted Phone
-Reformatted Phone (serious pain in the butt).
-Tried other phones that work properly with Android Auto in the same vehicles (Note 8, Pixel 3).

I have a 2017 Ford Raptor with Sync 3 and another vehicle with a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX.  Neither have trouble with Android Auto on my other phones.

I enabled Developer Options to see what's going on with the USB and this is what it shows:

I am unable to select the option for "Transfering Files / Android Auto".  It will select for a second and then unselect.

For the Bluetooth Options....  I can't toggle "Audio" on (which might be by default as the audio is going over USB).  It will switch on and then switch right back off again.

I am at a loss here.   I use Android Auto all day every day (I drive a ton for work).  I really need this working but I don't know what else to try.

Any help?

I have same problem. 2019 Honda CR-V, Nokia 7.1 running latest Android Auto. Car display shows song playing but no sound. Offers pause button as though media is playing, but button unresponsive. Issue with Google Music, Amazon Music and YouTube Music. All other Audio sources- SiriusXM, AM, FM work fine.

I am having the same issues. It won't even connect to my screen or give me the option to select android auto. It tries to connect. I just got this phone yesterday and its very frustrating since I use it every single day. Tried everything, even contacted Samsung and no resolution

I am also having a similar issue. I have tried different cables two different cars a 2020 Enclave and a CT5, clearing data, clearing the cache, clearing the data, removing the update and even clearing the system partition cache and nothing works. I've spoken to Samsung support who simply want to refund my purchase and to google support whom have no answer. The lady was very nice but nothing worked. My S10+ has/had no issue. My only guess is maybe the embedded AA doesn't play nice with cars? I need this to work and really don't want to switch phones again. Please help.
