I've had that issue occasionally too. Restarting the phone fixed it for me.

I have this same problem. But only on the very first song I play after connecting to android auto. I have to hit pause then play and this fixes it. I have a Samsung S7 / Ford Explorer. We also have the exact same problem with a second phone on my Honda Accord so I'm sure its a Spotify issue NOT Android Auto,
this is very frustrating.
I have reinstalled ALL apps included even reformatted my phone. No Solution...

I started having this problem too. The way I seem to have fixed it was to take off the restriction about not running this app in the background (battery settings). When I clicked off the setting that said to put the app to sleep when not in use I could play it fine. I Have a Galaxy S10+.

I went into the battery settings and clicked on Google play music. Then turn off the put app to sleep immediately when not in use and it seems to have fixed this problem.

Going into the battery settings and then clicking on the battery and then the apps that use the battery will come up click on the music play app and put app to sleep. It takes the background restrictions off.

I am not tech savvy. My music plays then stops and won’t start again. I’ve had this set up for awhile so nothing changed or new. I’ve disconnected and same

I had this problem too. It plays a song for 10 seconds exactly and then just closes the app and stops the music. I tried restarting my phone, but that didnt do anything to help. Going into settings, apps, google play music, battery, and allowing the background activity seemed to do the trick though.

WINNER! Eric Shotts' reply "I went into the battery settings and clicked on Google play music. Then turn off the put app to sleep immediately when not in use and it seems to have fixed this problem" worked perfectly for me as well. The problem started after a Samsung update which automatically changed the setting.
Thanks for the help!
