Android-Auto: No voice when navigating via Google Maps 0 Recommended Answers 30 Replies 51 Upvotes

in Android-Auto, there is no voice on Google Maps navigation. The music is but briefly turned down.

In Google Maps, I've already disabled "Navigation via Bluetooth" because the receiver does not support Bluetooth.

How can I adjust now that the smartphone is connected via Android-Auto, even a voice output of navigation?

Without an Android-Auto, I have a voice output of the navigation in Google Maps.

Hi UserXY,

Could you check to make sure Android Auto has been granted permission to access your device. You can also do the same for maps.

Open phone settings > Apps & notifications > Android Auto > Permissions > Toggle permissions to on
Open phone settings > Apps & notifications > Maps > Permissions > Toggle permissions to on

All permissions are active (Android Auto and Google Maps).

Nevertheless, there is no speech output of the navigation.

I have "Waze" installed for testing, even here, no voice output of the navigation ...

I have the same issue. It works from google maps, but not from android auto (v4.3.591854). Android auto has all the permisions. The sound is not muted etc. I have noticed when AA connects to my car the bluetooth connects only for phone, not for media. Could this be the issue? If I try to force it to also connect for media I get a message "this feature is not available when using AA"

I have a CRV also and have a similar problem. I found when the sound goes out, if I use Bluetooth for audio source I can hear directions from Google maps but I want to hear the fm radio..I also found this is not a problem in a Honda Pilot..and it used to work fine last summer so it seems like some update is not getting along with the CRV. I've been trying to figure out if the CRV needs an update

Same here, maps and Waze no voice but music dims as if it's talking.

Uninstalling maps updates via Google play is a temp work around.

I have a similar problem. Pixel 3 with all current software sending content to Grom VLine2. I get voice guidance but incomplete; the first 2 seconds of each sentence are not audible.
If music is playing, then it goes down to silence and 2 seconds later I get the end of a Google sentence. From "Head north towards Liverpool road" I only get "...wards Liverpool road". Annoying.
I tried enabling and disabling bluetooth; it makes no difference.
