When i am listening to my music through my car stereo over Android auto (jvc kw-m740bt) it will randomly cut out while driving or stopped. I have updated both firmware versions on my Google Pixel 3 and the stereo and nothing has resolved the issue. Help!

I have this too it's so annoying
 Disconnect the USB cable count to 5 and re connect it. 95% of the time this fixes it.

I'm seeing something similar on my Samsung S10 running Android Pie with Google Play Music. If I run the app outside of AA, audio is fine. But when I run it from within AA, tracks often cut out after a few seconds, and I receive a toast indicating there was an error with Google Play Music. It will keep doing this even if I try to move to another track.

Separate issue: I'm not sure why I'm only given the option to shuffle all my offline/downloaded music when launching Google Play Music from AA, rather than also showing me to simply resume playback on the whatever the active play queue was in the app.

Same issue with google play music on Autocar. It is impossible to listen music!

@David, I'm having the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy S8 using Google Play Music. The audio will simply cut out for anywhere between 1 and ~15 seconds at random. Below are my details.
  • Error message: None Shown
  • Are you using Android Auto on your phone screen or car’s display? Car's Display
  • Does the issue occur outside of Android Auto app? No
  • Car / head unit make & model: 2019 Nissan Altima SR, Software version 0702
  • Phone Make & Model: Samsung Galaxy S8 (SM-G950U)
  • Android OS version: 9
  • Android Auto app version: 4.2.591444-release
  • Google Play services version: 16.0.91 (100408-244116403)
  • Media app name & version: Google Play Music, v8.19.7938-1.M

Similar issue, can't play any online streaming music from within AA. Always have to play it outside and then start AA. I have OnePlus 6t with latest stable software and most recent version of AA, I use it on my phone. I can play downloaded offline music from Amazon music. Google play music is tricky one, it works occasionally. 
The apps that don't work from within AA- Spotify, Gaana, Amazon Music (online stream), TuneIn,

It's like everything else in these damn new  So stalled technologically advanced cars  the technology is more than the car software can handle

Android auto is no different

I have a an S10 Plus with Ceramic back. Google screwed up audio play playback on AA. I had the same problem in a Pixel 2 XL. The only solution I found so far was to go back once again to an IPhone. Google runs the systems, Google needs to lock down that Andoid Auto audio playback. If Microsoft can fix all of their little and enormous problems so can Google.
   If and when it ever costs them enough money in customer losses they will fix it. Financial losses are the only things that matter to Corporations.
