When I use Android Auto (with my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek) and say "ok google, play pink", it will start to play for about 5 seconds and then it just stops/pauses. This is a new behavior, just noticed it within the last month.

Workaround for Android phones:
Open phone Settings > Apps > Google Play Music > Advanced > Battery > tap Background restriction > if restricted, Remove restriction
Open phone Settings > Apps > Google Play Music > Advanced > Battery optimization > select All apps from drop down menu > Google Play Music > select Don't optimize
You can also check to see if background restrictions are enabled by:
Open Google Play Music app > check if ‘Background restrictions is on’ notification is present > tap on notification > Google Play Music > Advanced > Battery > tap Background restriction > Remove restriction
Workaround for Samsung phones:
Open phone Settings > Apps > Google Play Music > Battery > enable Allow background activity
Open phone Settings > Apps > Google Play Music > Battery > enable Allow app while Data saver on
If you’re still experiencing this issue on Samsung phones:
Please remove apps from the Sleeping apps Settings: Check out Samsung’s support site for more information.

Same issue for me. While playing my lists, music stops about 5 or 10 secons after it started playing. An error message is displayed on me screen. Only solution is restarting the phone each time.
