Why has no one fixed the Android Auto playing audio through USB issue yet?

I have disabled audio through USB, but it seems AA is overriding this.

I'm driving a Mercedes Benz GLE Coupe with Bang & Olufsen speakers and it kills me that the sound is so flat...

I am using a galaxy s10+.

I am experiencing the same problem with low volume using Android Auto.

Hmm.... everyone here drives a different brand/model of cars and they are experiencing the same problem with the same app, Android Auto .

Anyhow, looks like BT is a good interim solution to at least get normal audio volume!

I use CloudPlayer to replay FLAC (16/44.1) from my S7 via USB, with no equaliser settings, and it sounds excellent! (Focus ST with upgraded SS).

I have also tried Poweramp via the same configuration, and it is much quieter and flatter in comparison, perhaps there's some form of setting that needs adjustment...however I'm very happy with the USB sound via CloudPlayer.

P.S. Spotify & BBCiPlayer sound pretty good via USB too, despite being 320Kbs

If BT is sounding better than USB you must have something configured incorrectly...

So I noticed the exact same thing with spotify and my fix was open the spotify app on your phone go to settings then equalizer.  From there you can adjust the equalizer settings to what you like.  It was really flat in my car and this did the trick.

Yeah I can confirm this exact problem with an Volkswagen Arteon 2018 with their premium sound system, sounds fantastic with bluetooth but terrible with Android Auto. All firmware is up2date.

Guys,
I also faced audio quality basically flat with Audi A4 2018, Audi Q5 2018 and Bimmer X6 over USB in AA.
When music played with Bluetooth sounds great.
I am a tech guy and all firmware are latest.
Even tried beta of AA with multiple configurations no success.
Tried with Samsung Note 8, Samsung S9 and iPhone 8.
In Audi with Green Menu I can increase volume but quality still bad.
Recently upgraded to Samsung Note 10 Plus and volla sound is great over usb.

2017 Audi s3, same issue as everyone else. Media over aa is completely flat and low. Bang and Olufsen system sounds terrible over aa. Bluetooth is so much better. One thing I did notice in my car is i can adjust the input gain on the Bluetooth source, but not the aa source. Perhaps the issue is on the vehicle side where the input gain is too low. Or the aa output gain is too low. Google please acknowledge, it's an issue for everyone.

Found a sort of "fix"

Similar problem in my '19 Z06 and I found  you can Save different EQ profiles as if they were Radio Stations.  For instance, in FM or XM, etc, if you press the touch screen on a number and hold it, that station will save there on the touch screen.  (same way you save radio stations forever, just a long press on where you want to save it)  To my surprise, this is also available for different EQ mappings.  Balance the EQ how you want it and without leaving that screen, map it to an empty spot where you would normally map a radio station.

So now when in AA, I can go back to the main screen (without exiting AA completely) and easily press whichever EQ setting I prefer.

I have 3 basic ones for different sorts of music and talk radio.  Hope that helps.

Mercedes are fantastic, but whoever has designed their interfaces for the past two decades needs to find another line of work.  In the new SLs (at least), you need an engineering degree just to adjust the damn seats.

Same issue here. Honda Civic '19. Samsung Galaxy S20. Google Play Music. Flat sound via USB, but great sounds over BT.

Hi Marcus,

I'm driving MB 2016 W218 CLS with the factory-built audio system.
As you may know, AA sends all music "signals" to NTG(MB Car info system) through DAC.
Then NTG makes a sound according to "signals" without any manipulation.
It stands for you need to make-up a "signals" before sending it to NTG, but Google Play and Samsung built-in Player doesn't support DAC system.

Simply, please chang your Player to "Hiby", "Poweramp" or any other DAC support Player!
You can feel dramatic changes!
