I'm having issues with streaming music (spotify, Google play, etc) via android auto in my 2019 Nissan Altima. Most songs will cut out for a split second all the way up to 10 seconds at some point while playing. The song progress bar keeps going though - it's just the audio that cuts out. Very annoying because I never had this issue with my previous car and I'm using the same phone (Samsung Galaxy S9) and cable as before.
I've tried reinstalling android auto and spotify a couple times and haven't had any luck. Any help would be appreciated!
Nissan owners!! if you have a 2019 - 2020 Altima or Murano, I have some very good news for you! I just got this fixed FOR REAL.
A Nissan software update is out that fixes this issue. Google search "NTB20-046a" for Nissan cars, or mention this bulletin number to your dealer. This is labeled as an "erratic volume knob" for some reason, but if you read the bulletin a bit further, it states that there is a software update to install on 2019 -2020 Altimas and Muranos. this software update will update your head unit to version #0912 which will fix the audio cut out problem! There's other nifty little enhancements for your head unit that come with this update as well.
You may have to work a little magic with the dealer's service department to get them to install this update. they tend to be strict about replicating the issue before agreeing to do any work. With enough persistence, hopefully you'll find some luck. Good luck everyone!!

Great to hear that the issue has been resolved! We had informed Nissan about this issue and they have prepared a fix for affected cars. Please check with your dealership to get the software update for your head unit. Thank you!

update - The Nissan dealer couldn't figure this out and told me to wait for the next firmware update for the infotainment unit in hopes it will fix it. I even upgraded my phone last week to the Galaxy s10 and the issue is still happening. Anybody else having this issue or have a resolution?

Note this isn't an issue with another device using or taking the Spotify stream. If that happens, the song counter will stop and pressing play again will cause the car to 'take' the steam again. Also in that kind of situation if you look at the Spotify app directly on your phone it will show you that Spotify is playing on some other device. In this situation Spotify app indicates Spotify in playing on the phone.
Other info I added to the other thread as well:
"
I have the same issue with Spotify. Although sometimes I'll just get no sound at all, song's time bar shows the song is playing though. The issue is intermittent, sometimes when I connect my phone to the car Spotify works fine.
Also if the issue is occurring and I switch to another Media App within Android Auto (AA) via car interface, sound works fine from alternate app (so it's not a cable issue).
After the issue has occurred trying the following sometimes works to get it to start playing:
1) Disconnect phone from car, force kill Spotify app, reconnect phone to car
2) Disconnect phone from car, open Spotify app, start playing a song, reconnect phone to car
3) Disconnect phone from car, reboot phone, reconnect phone to car
4) Disconnect phone from car, reboot phone, power cycle car, reconnect phone to car.
Note: There were times where numbers 1 to 3 did not work.

Hey thanks for the help. Unfortunately though this problem doesn't exist for just Spotify. It happens on Google Play Music too. So it has to be something wrong with the car's system or android auto I'm convinced. I've tried different methods of unplugging the phone/plugging it back in once the problem happens and that doesn't seems to do anything.

I reached out to Nissan via email. I got what I'm sure was a canned response. They said they were aware of the issue and that the problem is with Android Auto not their head unit. Ridiculous!
