I'm using an ES100 Bluetooth DAC/Amp with my phone to play get high fidelity audio in my car through Bluetooth.  The phone transmits the audio to the amp via Bluetooth, the dac/amp is then connected to the car via Aux.

When I have my phone connected through USB to the car, the Android Auto forces media to be played through the USB connection.

Is there a way to force audio through Bluetooth or to prevent the audio features of Android Auto?

I own a Mazda 3 MY2013 with oficial Android Auto kit installed on it

I am able to listen to music from my phone using BT (for example I can play a YouTube video) while connected through USB and using Waze with Android Auto.

I just simply open the player on my phone (YouTube in this case) play a video, and it sounds in my car's speakers

Same applies for any other media player (VLC, rocket player, YouTube Vanced...)

Switch to Mediaplayer and choose source to Bluetooth. Then also fast forward buttons work with different cars.

You could also plug your fone into a separate charger, like a 12v power port usb charger, this would stop the head unit from turning on the AA app but still allow you to use bluetooth streaming.
