I have tried everything but my Google Assistant function while using my android auto in my 2016 f150 xlt will not respond. When prompted it goes in to listening mode, hears my command and then times out without fulfilling my command. I have read countless other threads that date back nearly a year of people experiencing the same issue. This speaks volumes for the lack of competence Google has in taking care of this matter. My Sync software is up to date. My phone software is up to date. I have tried 3 different authentic LG charging cables. Even tried using the Android Auto Google Assistant function in multiple different vehicles (no success). I have spent countless hours on the phone with Fords Sync tech team performing ever type of software reset and tech work around imaginable and IT STILL DOES NOT WORK!!!! Also the fact that there is no Android Auto customer service number to call for technical support is a complete joke. If this doesn't get fixed soon I'm leaving all of my Google integrated devices for Apple.

Same issue here. I had two g8s and a pixel 3.  The G8 will work on Android v9 not v10 the pixel works on v10.

Same issue here. Worked fine on Pie. V35 also works fine on Pie. Just bought this phone, and this is not good to say the least considering voice commands are the most important component of AA.

I got my LG G8 as well as my wife's G8 fixed in our Volkswagens.  The fix is multi-part.  First is to go to settings>apps
1.Uninstall android auto, if not uninstall, uninstall updates.
2. Clear all cache and data for android auto.
3. Uninstall updates using the vertical ellipsis for the "Google" app.
4. Clear all cache and data for "Google."
5. Go to the play store and find the "Google" app, hit the vertical ellipsis for more and disable automatic updates.
6. Disable automatic updates the same way for Android Auto if available.
7. Connect your phone to your car, it should tell you that you will need Android Auto, proceed with that installation.
8. Follow all the prompts after the installation to activate google assistant.
9. Follow any head unit prompts on your car to connect Android Auto.

That *should* be it.  That string of steps worked on two LG G8's with VWs in the last week and a half.

Good luck!
