WhatsApp messages no longer being sent with android auto

I ask Android auto to send a WhatsApp, it goes through all the process and says its sent it, but when I look at WhatsApp there is no message been sent whatsoever
 This has been working fine up until a day ago.  Didn't even know until i looked at my phone after I stopped. Could not understand why I did not get a reply.  Is this a WhatsApp update issue or a android auto issue?

I did not have this issue but today I have a different voice reading my messages. (And I do not like the voice but cannot change it). Can it be that this bug is fixed and in that fix the voice is changed? It is about a Dutch voice.

Thanks all. Great to have this fix confirmed as I noticed my WhatsApp/Android Auto was working again a couple of days ago and was wondering if it would remain working! Faith now restored 🙂. (In UK. My WhatsApp version now 2.24.9.78)

Too late for me. After a month of this feature not working I switched to iPhone. Beside all the other bugs not fixed in google platform or apps. Thank you. No. Bye bye google. Apple is happy to take my money

Seems the problem is still there on 2.24.10.79

Sent a 'ghost' message earlier via Android Auto. Was told it was sent, no trace of it and nothing arrived.

Hello it is the same for mi not able to send message only if I receive one I can answer but not able to send new whats to a contact, and I have the last version and a new car. 2.24.18.80 is my version.

I think there is an issue with Samsung phones. I have just fixed the issue on mine today after reading a post on Reddit. You need to enable WhatsApp in the hidden menu in Samsung contacts. See below: 

1) Go to your contacts, 
2) Go to your contact settings 
3) Go to "about Contacts"
4) when you are in "about contact" tap on the title header (about contacts ) 10 times. This will bring up the hidden menu
5) slide the button next to WhatsApp and enable it.

Version 2.24.18.80. If I say: send Whatapp to John Williams (fake name) it says: to who want you send a message. I say: John Williams. It says: to who want you send a message. I say: John Williams. It says: to who want you send a message. I say: John Williams. Etc etc. 
I found out that when I say: Send Whatsapp it asks: to who want you send a message? Than I say John. (So only first name) Than it asks: do you want to send a message to John Williams? Than I say: yes. And than finally I can start with the text I want to send. Why not send it immediatly? It is annoying. But it will send. It is not that I miss messages or something like that.

Hi, the problem is not solved. 
In fact, with whatsapp version 2.24.19.86 and android auto version 12.8.643614-release, the problem is still present

2.24.19.86 not working at all. Only 3 contacts available and google assistant very unuseful. 
I've a realme GT master edition.

Since the last update my messages can´t be send (or answered). Android says my message is send but it´s not. When I´m not longer connected to the car and I open whatsapp,  the message sends immediately.
3th parties are already ok in the settings and it worked fine untill this update.

How are you supposed to send a message via WhatsApp? 

I receive WhatsApp messages but whenever I send a message there is no option given and messages says sent an an SMS. Previously you where prompted as how to reply but this has stopped.
